Jumping Ship

makes me wonder how much hp my front mount powderlites rx1 has .it hauls #*$&@ ,thats all that matters .and i still trail ride it.lol

Fern, that dealership don't know what they are talking about. Or they just didn't have it set up right. You know the amount of work it takes to get everything to work together and make speed. HP is the small part of the equation. Clutching, gearing, suspension, track, picks etc, etc. There is more to it then HP numbers.

that is true ,i sure spend alot of time on my sled setting it up.ajay i am waiting on my 4 tube header from powderlites to show up so i can put my sled back together.we have lots of snow but cant ride and that sucks waiting for parts to arrive .i still like my yamaha rx1 even though it is getting old it is still mint.

AJ i wouldn't compare the powderlites turbo set up to the MCX kit - I bought your dad's old kit and it would not make the power a MCX kit would make, even with some extra modifications where i knew it was ineffiecient. At the track I had to run 5 to 6 pounds more boost and still couldn't run the numbers my buddy stone was running with the MXC kit. I'm sure you Cat was fast - but the powderlites kits are the most fair thing to compare them to.

Dads was the powderlites sled. I had a attak with a CPR kit. Dyno'ed 271 hp at 14 lbs on a very fat tune, Once tuned right, my CPR kit always seemed to put the HP down a bit better then the Powderlites. Not sure if it was the intercooler or header or what also I ran 3" exhaust. My point isn't about HP per lb of boost, that means nothing to me. I was never a pro racer or trying to race time slips. My point was for all the different boosted sleds I have had in the stable, nothing came close to the A/C. All things being equal also. All the sleds were stock motor, just added turbos and chassis work.

we ran against some big Iron to. Rear mounts front mounts, straight and gay, white and black. Thats what I have seen.

Stock turbo'ed A/C's can't even run with stage 1 stuff unless they are fully set up as a drag sled. And most of the people judge the Z1's based on they have only seen stock turbo Z1's run with the bigger turbo yamahas and ski doos. A 300hp Z1 on stock turbo is fully maxed out. And compared to my old sled is like racing a 600cc sled.

Either way Boost is great, and I know all about turbo maps and intercooler pressure drop, and exhaust pressure, etc. etc. In any racing, pro or sport, no one races dynos or HP. It all comes down to over all set up.

machzrobbie ,we have a bunch of rear mount mcxpress turbos here and they dont even come close to my powderlites .i pull away pretty hard from them .front mount is way better from what i see here.no lag at all on my sled .

I have to agree with Machzrobbie powderlite is not the same as the mcx kit. Thats why they only pulled a 271 hp@ 14 Psi. aja636 that apex was low on hp,

A mcx apex makes 290hp @14 BEFORE tuning. Dyno is on the mcx site.

With it tuned it makes this @ 15 psi. ON PUMP

Everyone knows the cats dont stand any chance in the hp war with a apex. HP and tuning = faster sled u r right there.
Sorry Mate

dooassassin that is a front mount in the video not a mcxpress kit ,but that is some good power .

The CPR kit made 271 at 14lbs at 9-1 A/F ratio..At 12.5-1 A/F I bet it would be over 300hp. That was on a 93-116 mix of gas. 12lbs was the max for pump fuel. A front mount will make better HP then a rear mount or close to it.

I don't read any dyno #'s from the manufacture, All that is what they want you to see, and every dyno can be made to show what ever # they want. 3rd party set ups are they way to go.

And the statement about cat not in the HP war with yamaha is straight up ignorant.....spend some time on dynotech and look what D&D got. One sled A/C pushing 505 with stock motor with head mods, and Craig Compton/Glenn Hall are over 600 with full built engine. And there is more left. Thats putting down more HP then OSP 3 and 4 cyl yamahas. Hell there is a 1700cc 2 stroke turbo putting down 700hp now. And from what you said about turbo eff. they are all over 20lbs boost.

You might want to get off the MCX bandwagon a bit....

Just gonna have to agree to disagree with you bud. Been in the boost game since 2006, and seen most of it, tuned them all and ran them all. Remember whats fast is only relative to your competition....

That video is an Alpine turbo which is Powderlites. Powderlites made the kit for Alpine who is a yamaha dealer and they installed.

haha 505hp out of a stock head and motor, thats one of those speculated hp estimates again. Besides you are warping the whole topic so you can come out on top by bringing these lab test dynos on rocket fuel that costs 5$ a L.
We are talking about pump gas, how many times do I need to tell you. I dont care how long you have been in the turbo game, it dosint make your statments more reputable than the others. The same goes with me and every other person .This is not a communism fourm. Thats why we use references not comments. Im trying my best to use references you just use comments.
I guess it dosint matter how many times I show you that a apex produces more hp on pump than a cat. I give up.
BTW RXI you are right about the youtube vid.

Blah Blah Blah.....Hahahaha.. Pump gas this, MCX that, front mount, Cat nip.... You guys in canucky land are funny...Have a safe good new year.

I am going back to riding the old mercury sno-twisters, they were the fastest thing on Vodka and cranberry. Running a hair dryer blowing in the carb at 2.5 lbs boost. Just had to use bug spray to add the additional fuel....

This post went right down the tubes. Sorry josh, Hope you have tons of snow when you get off the RIG!! and watch out for the MCX yamahas around, I heard they are fast!!!
