Well, it was a great ride, 4 days around Gaspe from Riviere Du Loup. About 1100 miles in total. Got 6 miles outside Gaspe from Perce on Sunday night and my rear axel broke in two! Never seen anything like it. Lost one bogey wheel and one bushing, found the other parts. Buddy towed me into Gaspe and the next morning went to the Yamaha dealer for repair. $196 later I was back on the trail. Pride was hurt a bit but thats about it. Hopefully Yamaha will make good on it and reimburse me?
Anyone ever have this happen to them? First time I have ever seen it. Clean brake as well, and all the trails were flat! Couple of studder bumps but no moduls and no jumps, just fast 60-70MPH trails!
Good ride in all. 2574 miles this year....
Peace!

Glad to hear your trip in the Gaspe' was good - and everyone got back safely!
When we went 3 wks ago, we cut across on 597 because the reports were that snow was scarce out near the tip.
Only thing that would make that axel bolt snap like that would be incorrect torque/overtightening. My guess would be that the dealer adjusted the track and then used an impact wrench to tighten it. I'd have to double check but believe the torque on that is supposed to be about 70ft/lbs (?)

I was in Riviere Du Loup on Friday. Stayed at the Hotel Universal. Sat. I stayed in Matane at the Hotel Riotel and Sunday back in Riviere Du Loup.
I talked to a couple of guys. One had a RX-1 and his buddy had a mac-Z. I left from Errol NH and went as far as Matane. 1300 miles. My buddy has a 700 Polaris Clasic. I used $100. less gas. He is now impressed with Yamaha.

I left Hotel Universal Friday morning. I was talking to a couple of sledders out front of the motel while we were getting ready to leave. One of the sledders has a 05 red RX-1ER and the other had a Mach-Z. I have a 05 red RX-1ER and by buddy has a red 700 Clasic. Was it you I was talking to?

Nh sledder, you forgot to mention the $50+ for oil he would have to spend. I just came back from a 10 day, 2100 mile trip out through Valdor, La Sarre Chibougamau, Lac St Jean ,etc. A side from the poor fuel milage a couple off the guys in our group were getting, there was the gallons of oil they had strapped to thier sleds. Then when they ran out and had to start buying it for $12 a liter (synthetic) The 4 stroke really started to make an impression on them. Granted I will be due for an oil change soon @ a cost of about $20 for almost 4 quarts of mobil ! but I am still way ahead.
