I thought that I had got a good deal. Once home I find out that the top end of the motor has been apart recently. The guy that I bought it from doesn't have the stones to tell me why it was apart. So I'm thinking that he ran it out of oil. If this has happened to anyone else. What do I need to replace. The motor is quiet no knocking. So can I assume that the bottom end is still good.

I'm currently going to put new over size piston and rings and new gaskets and valve seals. There is only 316 hours on the engine.

If the engine is quiet and running ok I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep an eye on your oil level. If it uses very little oil save your money.

Found out what happened

The guy left me a message on the weekend and last fall, the skirt on the piston broke. The guy had it sent out and they bored it over and put a new piston and rings in it. Has anyone else heard of this happening to the 660. Or is this the result of running out of oil that causes the skirt to break.
