Just throwing this out there

For trail riding the 1200 doo is ready to rock? No bs to take into account? Is that a good trail sled? Faster than a nytro? Warmer? 4 stroke reliability?

Find a 1200 X package, it will be right there with a stock Nytro, you won't spend a dime on anything to make it handle better, and with a Header, Exhaust, and Clutch kit it will be a pretty nasty 1000 ft sled. Those mods cost money, but don't all need to be done simultaneously (start with the clutch kit IMO).

first off...i hate the polaris rush suspension...so the switchback 136 is out.
second the arctic craps are burning belts faster then lightning...
third the ski donts cant keep the tunnels from buckling....and the 2 strokes from grenading...
so its looking like keep the nytro and buy a polaris assault 155"
or keep the nytro and buy stock in arctic crap to keep myself in belts for the new turbo cat...
Gee looks like im just going to keep the xtx until something comes out that tickles my fancy...

Great trail sled yes. Not as fun to ride as the Nytro though. It has about the same HP and is faster on top end, but the power band feels totally different. The Nytro is "snappy" and the 1200 has a steady throttle pull. Much warmer than a Nytro unless you get the X-package. Engines seem to be very reliable so far, but the Doo chassis is considered weak by some people. Overall I could easily live with a 1200 but I prefer my Nytro because of the fun factor and riding position.

Good post.

One thing I really like about the 1200 is the gage package. The Nytro really should have the gauges from the Vector if it wants to be compared to other full-sized, full priced sleds. The Phazer gauges don't cut it.

I'm willing to be the 1200 feels more steady at speed as well. After all this time my Nytro still scares me anytime I get going faster than 60mph. It just constantly feels like it's going to spit me off. Kind of shcoking that I'm more comfortable going fast on a 12yr old Polaris (see sig) than I am on a modern Yammy.

I would Never trust the 1200cc Doo, there is not one running one in Whistler that I know of, they have all blown up.

I will ride the Apex MTX until another decent model becomes available.

Have alook at this......

One of the first and best mod's I have done. Should come stock IMO..I never weighed the two, but i bet its 1/3 lb heavier.

That's awesome. Was it hard to do?

Wouldn't do me any good now, my GPS is in the way, but you're right, they should come that way stock.

And the only people that would say it's about the weight would be a Yamaha salesman. It's all about build cost IMO

I think everyone should jump ship and sell there sleds. This way I can get 08's even cheaper to build up my fleet :jump:

I'm not holding my breath for the 2013's but if/when yamaha builds something better than the Nytro I'll buy one as quick as possible. Until then I'm rockin worn out beat up 08 Nytro's!

Guess it's better to have hot exhaust further away from the oils.

The gauges look nice but personaly I really don't spend alot of time looking at them, so I can't justify doing it. IMHO

Well if that was a Yammi you NEVER would have gotten the side panel off that's for sure. Hahah.

A buddy of mine has two 1200 renegades, the std and backcountry. Aside from blowing a track and some curious reverse issues, it has been pretty reliable, but for a 1200 triple, it sounds like sewing machine.

Thought the Cat 1100T in the M configuration was going be the rig, then I heard about the belts, the fires, the recalls, and thought it might be better to wait a little while and see what Bombi and Yam offer in 2013.

Hard to beat the old Nytro motor.

OTM

LOL, so true. Put a trail tank on and it gets even worse!
