Hey yall!
New to the site...looking great, lots of good info...

Does a K&N filter make a noticeable difference vs. stock?
Any drawbacks of using K&N?
Where can I get one for a decent price (In Canada)

Thanks
Frank

Stay away from the K&N, they flow real good for a reason! They let too much dirt in!! This topic has been discussed in other forums and a unbias test was done on lots of filters and the K&N proved to be the worst for off-road applications. I also read by some one to go out for a good ride in dusty conditions using a K&N and your stocker and see which one is the dirtiest? They said the K&N looked pretty clean still? Where did the dirt go then? My 2 cents...Irv

I have the K&N Filter and if you run the prefilter it will get as dirty as the stock....it is true it will flow more air and give you some great throttle response. It really depends on why you are doing with the machine...any aftermarket filter will allow more to go thru. If there is long term damage I would surely like to see the results.

All high flow air filters sacrifice final air quality for higher flow. You just have to choose between better performance or taking the chance of putting dust into your engine.

I usually put a good amount of filter oil on and it seems fine, If you use the pre-filter do you have to rejet?, the only thing I dont like about the k&n is its a son of a " B " to get it in the airbox.

And with that, if you put on a prefilter to get higher quality air aren't you compromising higher flow?

Makes me wonder if the benefit is worth the time, effort, money and aggravation of changing from stock. :?

If you run a K&N with the prefilter, you might as well run the stock paper filter because the flow is going to be about the same.
The K&N is nice in that you dont have to go out and buy a new airfilter, all you need to do is clean it.
Personally, I like the Uni or other similar foam filters better. They dont flow as much as a K&N, but they filter really well and are cleanable and reusable.
A lot of people who I have met at ATV racing events swear by the foam filters.
