I'm going to get a new jacket this year and I'm looking at the Klim brand. Which model is the best for snowmobiling?

I see you're from the Midwest. Your best option may be the Kilmate, which is insulated. Most Klim jackets are just shells, made for layering and warmer weather in Mountains. Both of the models you've proposed are shells.
I believe the Klimate is the only insulated model Klim sells. I picked a blue Yamaha model Klim Klimate on a closeout a month ago for a steal. Lot's of deals right now.
Good luck,
Mike

If your more of a trail rider than a boondocker, get the Klimate. If you boondock, go with the Valdez. I have both the Valdez and Tomahawk. The Valdez is a better design and more features than the Tomahawk. Don't get me wrong, you CAN trail ride in the Valdez or Tomahawk. I've ridden comfortably from Land O' Lakes WI. to Munising on a -25 deg. day! Proper layering and I am fine. I can then remove layers or open vents while boondocking. Hope this helped!!

I have the klimate. It,s very good until it gets real cold but then nothing is warm on a nytro.
Thanks Dave and Turk. I will be looking at a Klimate jacket then. I trail ride in MI.

Another option is FXR, good gear, good prices, and most of the jackets have zip in/out liners. Lots of pockets and vents. I have the Flotex jacket and bibs, they work well for me.
I have Klim and my son has FXR ~ both great products.

A post similar to this was asked recently at FS or HCS and from what I remember most said to get the FXR gear as it is warmer, cheaper and in most cases better for all around riding.
I have neither so don't shoot the messanger, just passing on what I heard.

We have recently became a Klim dealer and they do have a few new products aimed at the midwest rider coming out for this upcoming season. They will have a Goretex insulated jacket and bib/pant a step up (Keweenaw) and a step down (Impulse) from the Klimate version which is also being revamped for next season.
We sell both Klim and FXR and they both are excellent product with the Klim currently being a tad bit more high end and super durable whereas FXR has a broader range of products (mid level to high end) and has a much flashier racier appeal. FXR is also bringing out a few new high end mountain/freeride type jackets to compete head to head in that segment and the Backshift jacket which is the number seller in the US has been revamped for next season.

Kevin this is good to know because I need a new suit this year and I will be in contact with you. Will you be going to the Michigan NOVI show this Fall?

Can I just throw in here that part of the reason I went with the Valdez was the length. If you are a taller person or have a long torso like I do sometimes even in the bigger sizes the Klimate just isnt long enough. My friend has one and he is short so its great for him but I tried it on and all I do is fight with it to stay down.
I mean thats not the only reason but it was a big factor when I was trying them on.

Bingo billey!! I wear a Tekvest and at 6'3" and 300 lbs. the cut of the Valdez covers me neck to below the waist. Cut longer in the back with ample adjustments to keep the snow and wind out, and the warmth and dry in. If you haven't tried the Klim gear, you realy don't know what you're missing. I know, the price is difficult to accept, but my old bibs and coat are 4 full seasons old and look as good as when I bought them. Never had a pair of bibs last 2 seasons without ripping the crotch, leg, or zippers out of them. Just my nickels worht LOL.

i have both valdez and klimate,if you wear a tek-vest you should be ok
with valdez, if you wear their base layer with everest jacket.
without tek-vest you could be cold on real cold days, i like valdez for
the freedom and it's light.
