I have 2 2007 Kodiak 350's. They each have 4,000KMS.
I noticed last year that when on a good road they would hit the rev limiter while picking up speed and seemed to take quite a while to have the clutch ratio change before the engine rpm's slow down while the speed would increase. They both did the same thing so thought it was normal for a small cc bike.
This year they will hit the rev limiter around 70kms and hold there and go no faster or the engine rpm not coming down. Last year they would top out at around 90-100kms. I'm not too concerned about the top end speed but would like to have the engine rpm be bit lower at crusing speed (60kms tops) rather than at top rpm.
I thought maybe with the miles that the belts might be worn out. I changed the belt on one with no differance. The belt I took off was dry and oil free and very little wear compaired to the new one. Less than 1/64".
Thinking now that maybe the primary clutch needs to be cleaned and greased?
Any other ideas guy's and gal's?
Thanks

Clean and grease primary and take some scotch bright to the clutch services.... the belt could still be slipping.

Found the problem.
The primary clutch was caked with grease not allowing the cam to move and change ratio's.
The cam is also worn and will replace in both bikes, only $16 each.
Thanks for the help.

You can post them on this site. You just have to reduce them to 640x480 and in the post add attachment.

Problem solved.
Removed the primary clutches and cleaned them. Replaced the worn cam that was worn.
They both run like a charm now and upshift properly.
Looks like the clutches should be checked and cleaned about very 1,000km.
Oh ya, the price if the worn cam was $16 CAD. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.
