Welt, from what I have been told Yamaha hyfax has an initial wear problem that stops and ends up
lasting for many miles.

Brian,
Maxximum Perf has larger wheels. They do help with hyfax wear. Cant say I recommend them though. They use a real narrow molded in bearing. At 750 miles 3 of the 4 were shot, though the wheel itself held up ok. Replacement wheels from them are $20 which is not all that bad.
I also would like the part number of the Polaris wheels.
I got 2200 miles out of Hiperfax one time, but conditions were good that year as well. A bit spendy at $150 a pair, but the sled is at least 2 MPH faster on the top end because of a lot less friction.

Give Aaron Excell a call. He has some wheel kits that I think will work very well.

This is a good kit that greatly extends the life of hyfax. Call Bruce at Pioneer Performance.

Our Hyfax Extender Wheel Spacer Kit is designed to greatly increase hyfax life in all conditions. We've logged over 2000 miles on our RX-1 virtually no hyfax wear. When installing the kit it lowers the stock six idler wheels 2½ millimeters (same as a 5 millimeter oversize wheel), increasing the clearance between the track and hyfax, greatly reducing hyfax wear. By using the factory wheels durability is retained, no need to worry about some cheap after-market wheels (that the bearings can't be changed on) failing! The kit consist of 4 specially designed offset wheel spacers (for the 4 front outer idler wheels), and rear cross shaft (rear center idlers), the spacers and shaft are specially designed to lock in place, keeping the wheels in their offset (lowered) position. Kit fits all ’98 & newer liquid cooled models models ('03 & '04 RX-1, Warrior, Rage, Viper, SRX, SX-R, SX, V Max, etc.).

If someone wants one of these wheel spacer kits, I have a used one off my 2003 RX-1, it won't work on my 05. Figure $60 plus shipping.

I have to get in on this one. I will never buy anything from Maxximum Perf again. I purchased a marginal snow wheel kit from them for my SRX after about 500 miles the bearings were shot and the wheels basically feel apart. When I called them they said yes we know we had a bad supplier. They wouldn't go good for the wheels and I just took the brackets off and gave them away. That was my first and last purchase from them. I then went with the polaris wheels and had no problems.

just get the polaris 5.35 wheels and be done with it. i changed all 6 when new and now have over 8000 miles on them, no problems. no spacers or kits required, use plastic inserts from origional wheels, and bearings are replaceable any time you like.

When you say you changed all six are you including the rear wheels? If so, what size are they? Any pics of what they look like on your sled?

On bolth my warriors the slides are wearing nice. I have almost 4000 miles on my slides with some very hardpack and icey rideing and they are half worn out. My dads sled has 3000 miles and the slides barley show any signs of wear.
Try a pair of hyperfax or Ice scratchers on the ski's they work great.
