leaky oil filter on 09 RS Venture TF

4000 km now on the machine but the last couple of times I went for a ride she started leaking oil from arounf the filter. So I took the filter off and replaced it, it lasted 100km and started leaking again. Please someone advise as what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated

It's possible that there remains an old gasket from a previous oil filter. 2 gaskets between the oil filter and engine doesn't seal properly causing a leak. Don't ride until you fix this or your engine could blow.

Grimm is right. I went through a whole season with two oil filter seals and got lucky as it didn't leak. Check also that oil drain plug next to the filter and make sure it is tight. You will see a little triangle pointing to that plug.

Yeah I have already checked to make sure that the ORing came off. I even used a KN-147 filter which has a bigger rubber than the OEM Yamaha filter.

Mine did the same after a cold start -28 celcius i saw some tears of oil under the belly pan so i unscrewed the little plate and i clean everything with brake cleaner and nothing is leaking since that time usually it sleep in a warm garage so i guest that the oil pressure became to high in extreme cold weather and its leaked by the o-ring.

Same thing happened to both ours back a couple years. We were north at our cabin, temp went to -37*C so decided to trailer home. Started at -37 a surprise , warmed up and loaded on trailer. Couple hours later there was a 15"circle of oil under each sled. Checked and tightened each filter when we got home and it never happened again.
