Question for all the experience guys on superchargers. I know it's normal to get a lean spike when u let off of the throttle with the gems. Also when u mash it. Say if I went to a power commander would it get rid of the lean spike? Also should I get studs or a 1.75 track cause all it does is spin. It's a xtx ripsaw. 50 50 trail ride and boondocking. Thanks for the help.

I never get a lean spot when I mash it? The only real lean spot I have is exactly cruising at 90 mph on a groomed trail its right at the crossover between adjustments in the GEMS and it will go 17+ AFR if I let. I have to go faster or slower. Its never bothered me much because you don't have THAT long of a trail to just 'cruise' at 90mph.

For traction length is better then width and width is better then lug height. 121 is far to small for a boosted sled. I fought it for many years wanting to stay with a 121, decided to go big or go home and went 151x13.5x1.25 no studs, dear lord its like I doubled the boost, its now hard to hang on and really wrenches the shoulders!

I have heard of a few people having the lean spike on the Nytros, but no so much with the Apex. I'm not 100% sure if anyone has come up with a definitive answer on why it happens, but I'm pretty certain it has to do with the electronic idle control on the 3cyl motors. I'm thinkning it has to do with boost pushing on the valve, and the stepper motor in the idle control unit is being forced open. When you let off the throttle, the EBRS (engine braking reduction system) actually holds the idle valve open during decel. From everything I've messed with on my sleds, I'm convinced that this is what it's from.

X2 on what nate007 said, it's a characteristic of the Nytro's EBRS (engine braking reduction system) that cause the same spike on naturally aspirated machines, as well. It's more pronounced on unboosted machines with aftermarket exhausts, so it's not a boosted issue. You hear it as a hick-up.
