We use the hand signals in our group but; all too often I have seen groups that ride slower signal last in group only to round a corner and find a second group has caught up to them. Just because you see a signal (be it hand or this potential led) don't assume the road around the corner will be clear. :ORC

A poor substituation for safer riding practices.
Not any worse than meeting that same person and both leaders take their hand off the steering column to signal to each other. It will never be a perfect world unless the trails are policed and enforced. If that happens is that a perfect scenario? Sled registration and trail passes would go up to pay for the policing.
