Posted this in TTabs mod shop, so it would be able to be saved for others etc. but post here as not all folk cruise into the mod shop :)

So, had this little battery on my shelf for a few months...and two nights ago finally got around to installing it...

Anyways...it is about 10 lbs. lighter than stock, and you should be able to find one for about $60 This one is a CTZ10s but Yuasa would be the YTZ 10S...I could have gone wiht the even lighter one (the YTZ7s) and it would have been another 2 lbs. lighter...but there are some cold days out west, and you never know if your going to need to have to try and start your engine for a while (like if you popped off your Throttle bodies while doing a pull and thought you blew your engine..., DONT ask :) )

I used the stock bracket just slightly modified with the use of a vice...It is VERY secure in there, and the way I bent it, the right bolt puts a good amount of pressure on it to secure it...

I have the smaller one - and to get it to fit the battery box cut a piece of pink insulation foam for one side. I will get a picture of it in a day or two. The thing MTDream point out about the cold - i noticed the other day. Went out on Saturday for a quick run and it was only about 20 degrees. Got the slow turn a couple of times and it fired on about the 5th turn and didnt stay running. SLOW turned it over again and it fired. But not without a bit of pause on my part and the "Oh crap... no way!!!".

If you go with the even smaller one - ensure you have your cables along or your Macgyver knife as your gonna need it.

Add some foam pipe insulation to the inside of the bracket when installing the smaller battery, and use plenty to cover the battery entirely. It keeps the battery somewhat insulated from extreme cold, and it helps provide a better hold on the battery. Never had a single hiccup with my 7s this way. ;)!

Thanks MT for the post. I have been thinking about a lightweight battery but was unaware of how it is mounted.
I just put a YTZ10S in my R6 before I sold it :o Will have to order another one now.

I did the same thing with my 10 except I added another piece to the bracket to hold the battery snug to the right.

Are there any issues with the factory battery cable length? I see the battery being used here has reversed terminals.
