Im fed up with the lack of quality from the other big 3 and did enjoy the quality of the viper that i had a few years back.
Im a aggressive trail rider that likes to average a 100 miles + every time out and about 50% of my rides are solo so i guess a 4 stroke would be good for me.
I love the ride of my zr 900 and wonder if the 2008 apex Gt would be a good choice for me ?
Whats the difference from a 2006, 2007 model vs the 2008 apex gt ? Any info would be great thanks !

If you want a good ride, Get the 136" long track LTX GT, or Attak GT. It is quicker, rides better, and no slower on top end. Differences are slight, 07 up got an updated chaincase and handlebars, (warmers that didn't work any better) 09's got a rear cooler added, (that the track and studs hit). If you do a search, you can read all about these items. You will love the Yamaha four-stroke, and it qualities. They have only a few boneheaded items they could have done better, the rear cooler and handwarmers are a couple of things. Overall, their much better than the other brands with the quality.
08 LTX needs a rear heat exchanger added as per the 09, if you ever ride really hardpack or minimal snow or ice. Stock skis need twin carbides.

THANKS GUYS ! I see the 2008 apex gt has the electronic shocks in the rear and the outboard resevoirs up front. I like the 121 track with the inch and a quater rip saw track i think tha ist a great set up.
Im a little worried about the ride of the apex i have a friend with a 2006 attak (longer track) and hate the way it pushes around tight trails. I guess i figured out that the apex requires some twin carbides or if i were to get it i would add on some snow trackers.
Did they rework the front suspension up front from 2006 to 2008 ?

Well all of these sleds need a bit of work. There are so many posts here to get you in the ball park.
The only thing that sled needs is a 13 mm sway bar $89 and either shim the skis and add the carbides or put better skis on it. The set up is key to these and many guys complain but never spend 1 day making adjustments. If the sled pushes you need to take in the limiter strap 1 set of wholes at a time. The sway bar will eliminate the inside ski lift but to much transfer takes the weight off the skis. The control rod is your last fine tuning item.
I will tell you the GT with the valving on the electric Ohlin rear shock is a bit harsh compared to the RTX if your a rough trial rider.
I ignored the reccomended set up with set in sag and back the spring off to 2 full turns in from just touching spring when rear hung from bumper off the ground and am running with the shock on min on rough trails and mid firm on the glass stuff. Limiter strap is set on 1 hole up from bottom and control rod is 3/4 way out. I have 13mm sway bar and Simmons skis, front shock springs are 1/4 turn down from just touching springs on GYT shocks with front jacked off the ground.
This is an attack and I have over 650 miles on it since last Saturday and it is now on rails. No lift - no push and if I have the balls to throw it into the corner it comes out the other side.

All gt's have electronic rear and clicker shocks up front with reseviors. 08 I think they changed to Ohlin front instead of the GYT's. I think the Ohlins are better and have 2 pr on my RX's, but over all it depends on the deal you want to make.
You can find some smokin deals on 06 & 07's with very low niles. I bought mine with 400 on it. Saved over $3,000 to a leftover 08.
Snowtrackers make the long track rail..very happy with them. Most people will tell you the long track is faster out of the box...seems to be true. Also the LTX seems to look better....seat and track look really short and stubby on the regular Apex...just my opinion of course. Also very stable on fast railline runs, no fishtailing in loose snow.

I think i will wait till the end of january for a better deal ! You guys in the states are so luckey ! $8500 for a 2009 apex Gt Vs. $13000 for one up here !
I might also look for a used 2006 in vermont or Ny.

A quick comment on the skis pushing - I installed Bergstrom skegs last year on my Apex and shimmed the skis as per Scott's suggestion - WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Completely changes the handling of the sled, and no darting. I put the triple-point carbides on - have them on all 3 sleds now. And its made a huge difference for everyone of them - I swear by them now..

I would go buy the one for $8500 in the States! Even with the dollar this low, it is still cheaper. Yamaha Canada needs to get there head out of their @ss.

I feel that Yamaha has a fit and finish second to none! My first sled was a Yamaha and I'm still riding a Yamaha. Don't get me wrong, every year I get on a friend sled to try it out and they have things that would be nice but over all Yamaha. Skidoo is a great second place. Yamaha/skidoo would be a Perfect sled.
the only "CROTCHROCKET" for the snow, think you'll love it!!
