Hello fellow snow lovers! As you can see by my name, I have a 08 Polaris Dragon FST, but I have been looking at the Apex and wanted some feedback. I am a big guy at 275 lbs and I do ride hard, take some jumps but not to big haha... How will this sled hold up for me? Any in put would be great.. thanks for ur time..

hello dragon I'm 6 foot 230 and just love my apex. i jump alittle nothing to big and havn't had any issues. i do know a few guys jump big when they land on the rear axle they do bend rails. at least on the mountian ones anyway. don't think you will go wrong buying one.

I'm 6' and weight 255 lbs. I ride pretty aggreesive(for someone who is 56 years old), but do not take big jumps. Sled has held up fine for me. Just get thr Big boy spring, and have your rear shock re-calibrated for your weight and riding style, and you should be very happy with the Apex. Pioneer performance does a good job with shock calibration. You should also consider the Attak(136" track).

Mr Dragon, please enter your location in your user profile as this is a site rule.

The site has quite a few guys that are your size. You will get lots of feedback to install the Big Boy spring. For more information on the spring, please open the Apex/Attak FAQ thread that is pinned to the top of this forum (or click on link in my signature) and scroll down to the section on suspension. The FAQ will answer your questions about part numbers, weight charts, and installation procedures.

im 5 11 and 340 ive had no probs with anything on my 07 RTX i havent even touched the shocks from when i got it from the dealer i know theres been some reports of people having probs once in the heavier catagory LOL but i havent had probs here

Depending on what year sled you end up with.. New or used will depend on if you need a larger rear spring and shock revalving.. THe newer RTXs have a different, stiffer rear suspenion . The older 06 models were really soft..

Basically if you get a sled with a mono you are going to need a shock revalve and a Big Boy Spring..

Buy and it forget it! Two years ago at this time I had all Polaris's and never touched a Yamaha. Today I have an '09 Vector, and just bought an '09 APEX LTX GT. These are quality sleds and you will be impressed with the fit, finish, quality and performance. I was very surprised at the performance and ride. Surprised enough I sold my IQ a year early to have the APEX. With warranty you are assuming very limited risk on a purchase. The deal is quite the no brainer.

Im not as big as you guys but I am familiar with yamaha and I ride where you ride. I sold the RX1 and picked up an Apex Attak last year. You will be impressed with the quality and performance of the Apex. I agree with Big Black Warrior on the LTX 136". The longer track is a must when riding in Maine.

A buddy of mine is selling a 2007 Apex RTX with only 270 miles (yes only 270). I think he only wants around $5,200.00. You can't go wrong with this sled. PM me if interested.

Welcome to Yamaha 08dragon(fst).
I'm 3 bills all suited and love my Attak. Being a 06 model I did need to add the BigBoy spring. I recommend the long track for trail riding.

thanks for all the input i think i will go with a rtx. i have one more question what is the differance of the apex or attak? thanks for the time..

APEX = 121" ATTAK = 136" in '06 & '07

'08 to '10 you only have the APEX name but still made in 121" which is the APEX & 136" called APEX L-TX

thanks everyone for the help. I have read almost all the forums about apex and i was looking at a 09 apex rtx for $9400 new. does any one know if they fixed the ideler wheel problem and the suspension problems in rough trail? any help would be good dont wanna buy a new one if i can buy used and have just as good of a sled thanks for the help..
