If I hit the whoops hard or jump my turboed RX 1, the sled falls on its face. If I land too hard, it will actually bog past recovery and die then it is a real pain to get re started. #$%&*

What do think the possible remedies are? I'm mechanicly inclined, but have not torn into these carbs before.

Any help whould be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

float bowl height?

Agreed. Mine would bog and die on the way back down a hill. Unfortunately I forgot what the float height was. I believe it was 15mm.

You need the float bowls update on the 2003 rx1.I had the same problem ,but not any more. They gave me the 2005 carbs and I was set .My floats are set at 13 mm

Mine is an 03 also. I don't think a set of 05 carbs are in the budget. Do they have a stiff spring for these like off road 4X4 applications to keep fuel from sloshing?

Thanks for the help so far guys

Please keep the info comming

You just need to buy the bowls (yamaha gave them to all rx1m owners). Also, try setting the float a bit lower (higher measurement).

Go to your dealer and get it done,it is a free update to fix the problem.

Highly doubt they are going to hand me new carbs, but I will try!

Not new carbs, new float bowls. I had an 03 RX-1 and took it to the dealers to get the new float bowls. They did all this for free. It is all covered by Yamaha. Even with the new bowls I had to lower my bowls. My stock setting was 10mm and it ran like sh&%/died coming down hills and when I landed hard. After lowering floats, it does much better.

Not 100% sure, but I think the update is for 03 mountain sleds only. But if they wouldn't give you the updated bowls, somebody was making longer main jets for flatlanders.

Glad to hear that, I had this problem last year as well. I told my dealer about it and a month later he gave me the updated float bowls with new main jet seating for free. I have the floats set at 13 mm stock setting.
