After reading the snowgoer article, I'm probably going to need a stiffer spring. I'm 250, hopefully I'll lose 20 pounds, but I may need more spring. Let me know what you guys thought about the 05 monoshock, and how it handled. :4STroke: :yam:

Kevin @ www.portyamaha.com either has them or has them on the way.
Yeah 250 especially if you ride hard, the bigger spring is prolly a good idea. MrSled is about that and he had a near production calibration prototype for 2 weeks in march and he thought that the stock spring might be OK.

So wait and see, and please dont get so upset about what you read in Snowgoer. :(

The mono is a great suspension for trail and lake riding, on rough trails the bumps almost disappear. Really deep powder/mountain/big jump I dont know.

Read the latest Snowtech, they loved the whole sled.

The latest snowgoer article got me fired up. I dont know how they can say they absolutely loved it in wisconsin. When they got it (outwest I think) they said it bottomed hard????? what the heck were they going over?????

Part number 8FU-47489-10-00 is stiffer then stock. I am sure they will have more options this year but at this time I do not have any other numbers.

I actually called yamaha corp on this topic. Im about 325 with all my gear on so it was a concern of mine. Corp told me there is a spring upgrade avialable and it will be at the dealers by Oct.

I believe the monoshock spring mount can also be adjusted to three positions. (You have to take the shock out of the suspension) Comes in middle - there isa stiffer setting and a softer setting. My friend adjusted his after the spring relaxed alittle to get a firmer ride.

Pat of the beauty of the monoshock is it is ONE spring. You dont have to change 2 and then screw around with them getting them to work together :D

If you're in Canada and Yamaha behaves the same as last year - order it very early!

I ordered the heavier spring in December (before we really had any snow locally). It was already backordered and didn't come in until mid February (and even that took many calls to customer service).

It was in stock most of the time in the US though (at least when I checked).

You can adjust your adjuster position to move the adjuster higher (more spring compression) so when you move the adjuster to stiffen it, it compresses the spring more.
