hey guys,
I'm looking to build an rx-warrior turbo. At the end of January I will be purchasing my friends Rx-warrior. I've always had 2 strokes. Right now i got my ported/piped srx and ported/piped XCR 800.
I will be purchasing a used kit, as a new turbo kit isn't to affordable. If I cant find a complete kit I will try to piece it all together.
I will be trailing/field riding the sled, no mountain riding. So can anyone give me some info, anything. Tips/pointers?
How much boost are you trail guys running? I'm not looking to pump out lots of boost, just something trailable and safe on 92-94 octane. maybe 8-10 PSI.
Any info would help me out.
Thanks guys!

Level of boost depends on if you are planning on tearing into the motor to decompress (AKA: headshim, or low CR pistons, etc).
If just boosting on a stock RX1 motor, you'd want to stay under 8 lbs (stage-1) due to varying pump gas quality on the trail.
But even then, that will still be a land missle.
Beware, boost is addicting! Too easy to turn up the boost... Don't get greedy and you won't hurt the motor. The 3 keys are good fuel, good fuel, and good fuel...

Check out the sticky at the top of the threads in this section call boost calculator, it calculates hp, octane, at different boost levels and you can plug in different shims if need be to see the difference

I would like to stick to a Front mount. I will be adding a head shim to get the compression lower. I always bring enough 94 octane fuel for the trip.
What about a supercharger?
which would be best for a trail/fieldfun sled?
supercharger easier to install???

I'm a trail rider but hoping to head west for my first time this year in March. For the mountains its hard to beat the fact with a turbo your hp stays the same at any elevation.
For a trail rider, the SC is so much less crap to worry about. Less heat, exhaust parts, sound, passing DNR check points, etc. Its covert and no one would even know you had one till you blow by them. They are about 30-40hp less then a turbo but a lot less hassle for the guy that rides trails, fields, lakes, for around 1500-2000 miles a year.

I do quite a bit of lake racing, so the SC sounds like a much bette deal for me.

With a supercharger you won't have to cut the gas tank away for the front mount turbo & header and lose a good % of it's capacity.
As well, a rear mount turbo kit uses the stock gas tank...
I had a chance to ride an RX1 with an MPI SC, very clean install and stealth, and the throttle response was awesome but the fuel economy was horrible! Another thing to consider, an SC consumes quite a bit of HP from the crankshaft 100% of the time.
Pro's and Con's for everything, all depends on your taste and $$$ budget.

I run a .060 cometic and set up a stage 1 MPI for 10lbs of boost that will run on 91 gas.
