Love my Attak but I'm looking to upgrade To a 2011 or newer apex Mostly for the power steering. I don't believe I want the SE model after doing some research here and the more I read the more confused I get so I'll try to ask More direct questions.
For the years 2011 and up what are my other choices and I know there were some suspension changes but I'm wondering what I should stay away from or Look for. Also When I first bought my attak I was concerned That the 137 wouldn't be very agile but it most certainly was so will I miss The 137 Compared to a 128 And should I have the same concerns of going too long with the 144?

The 144” with tipped up rails is every bit as nimble, if not more so than your 136” is on hardpack. The CK skid isn’t wonderful in stock trim, but with the right tweeks and some shock revalving it works really well. The skid will never ride as plush as a mono skid, but is far more capable in the rough stuff.

I don’t have a lot of miles on my xtx yet but it looks like they might actually open the trails around here this week for me to put some on . but the little riding I have on this sled it is awesome compared to my old attak gt .

I also went from an Attak to an XTX. Big difference. I may be selling mine if interested but you would find one closer I'm sure.

What differences and why are you selling? I have both an Attak and an XTX, just looking for your opinions. Thanks.

so were there any models 2011 and up With a mono skid? What package/ model in your opinion works the best?

2011-2015 short track Apex sleds have the mono. I have an XTX and after some skid mods I love it. My Dad had a 128” Apex with a revalved shock and loved it. Really depends on what you’re looking for. I find the longer tracked versions of the Apex are better balanced fro t to rear, and you need all the traction you can get to put the power they make to the snow.

If I sell I will most likely go Sidewinder.

Thanks, Lots of SE with the Fox floats out there. Would you agree with me to steer clear of those? Lots of Mixed feelings on here

The mega float on the rear is crap by most people’s account, but the float II’s on the front work great. You could always replace the rear with a revalved KYB if the sled is a good enough deal to begin with. Travis at BOP could likely hook you up with one, or just keep an eye open in the classifieds. I gave up rebuilding my Ohlins yearly in my ‘06 GT years ago and swapped it out for a revalved KYB, worked great!

My buddy has a 2012 SE. We traded sleds for a what was to be for 25 miles. He wouldn't let me have my sled back until we got back home 150 miles later.
Mine has revalved and a multirate spring. His is stock. I would have to say at the pressure I set the floats at it was like riding a cushion of air in the one foot stutters.
Anything bigger than that it would start to get rough and road approaches and large dips it just plain bottomed out.
If you were only a smooth groomed trail rider I would say the Floats are the way to go but if you ride a mixture of bump conditions then the Float is not a good choice.

Thanks for the info guys, there is a lot of SE Apex out there and that opens up my options by just simply swapping out that rear mega float

the 2011-2015 xtx 144" with the tipped rails is more nimble in the trails than the 2016-2018 xtx with the 146" single shot. i came from a 05 rx war with full olins that i loved how it handled and rode once i set it. brother owns it now so i still get to ride it back to back with the xtx's when i ride with him. once i got the 11 set, it out rode the war pretty good as it was bridging the bumps better. still working on the ride on the 16 as i only have 1900 km on it and the 11 has 23000 km and i have been told that it is now her sled as it rides so well. all 3 sleds have the same skis (09 mtx) and 1-1/4" ripsaw tracks.

the main differences in the apex xtx from 11-15 was wheel placement in the skid. i know the 11 and 12 are different because i have a 12 skid that i put into the 11 when i do not have time to get all the maintenece done on the 11 skid or waiting on shock services.

GF sled is an '11 SE, could never get the Mega Fox set up to work with "most" conditions. Swapped out a coil over with dual Hy-Gear set-up that Travis at BOP had on hand. World of difference for her.

The 2011 up Apex SE is a great sled with a lot of upgrades compared to previous Apex mono sleds. I had an '07 Apex GT and traded for the '15 SE. Only downside to the SE, my opinion, is the Fox Float shocks suck all the way around. Why? Change air pressure to get one effect, for example to add preload, and you get a corresponding and unwanted change in compression damping. Same with the rear. Add in that the shock performance changes quite a bit with temperature and it's a less than ideal situation. I ended up switching to coil over shocks all the way around, now I love it. The '15 is WAY better in powder, far less likely to get stuck with longer lugs on a very slightly longer track. This is without studs on either sled. Power steering is a big help too.
