Has anyone found the motor mount by the drive clutch loose?? Can this bolt be checked without removing the air box?? Behind drive clutch perhaps?
Just remove the panel, and you will see the bolt behind the primary clutch.DaveRX1 said:Has anyone found the motor mount by the drive clutch loose?? Can this bolt be checked without removing the air box?? Behind drive clutch perhaps?

Yeh, I was changinging the oil filter and found the bolt sticking into the area by the idle speed adjustment screw. Found the washer and nut in the outer left pan under the secondary. Reinstalled with loctite, but only about half of the nut is being used by the bolt. Meaning the bolt only goes halfway through the nut. Hope it holds or it's back to yamaha. You can see pics and disasembly info under "oil filter" a couple days back.

I just checked my FX motor mount bolt under the clutch. The bolt was tight, but more importantly, the bolt protrudes 3/16" beyond the nut. If you'r bolt is only using 1/2 of the nut something is wrong with your setup.

I checked my FX it has about 3/16 protruding from the nut so no problems here.

Glad your bolts are tight. If there's 3/16th's protruding I guess there's a -unt hair between the bolt end and the clutch. I'm jellios and concerned about mine.
I think that bolt has something to do with adjusting engine position too, You should get it checked!

I checked mine today and just by looking quick theres 4-5 threads beyond the nut. Everything looks good.
I checked mine today and the nut was gone with a chunk missing out of the clutch so i brought it to the dealer again after i just got it back from the dealer

You can view the nut and threads by only removing the clutch side panel. Look behind the clutch near the front of the engine and you'll be able to see the amount of threads/bolt showing through the nut.

TOOK A LOOK AT MY MTN LITE TODAY AND NOTICED THE CLUTCH'S LOOK LIKE SOMEONE TOOK A BALL PEAN HAMMER TO THE INSIDE SHEAVE SURFACE AND THE MOTOR MOUNT NUT WAS LAYING IN THE BOTTOM OF SIDE PANEL. BOTH CLUTCH'S AND BELT ARE SHOT,GOING IN FOR WARRANTY. NO SNOW ANYWAY RIGHT NOW.

Fixed mine, Hopfully. After the nut came, off the engine spacer backed out alot. My mech said "don't mess with the spacer". so I put it back together but the bolt only went through half the nut. After reviewing the other posts and consulting the mechanic again, I went back into the deal tonight. Had to remove 4 bolts holding sideplate to the frame and the motormount nut to relieve the torque from the spacer sandwiched between the motormount and the sideplate. Sideplate is what I'm calling it. it's the thick alluminum plate between the motor and clutch. Adjusted the spacer inward untill plate and spacer and motormount met simultaniously, LOCTITED all the sideplate bolts, and motormount bolt and reassembled the airbox, headlight, sidepanels, headlightcover and windshield. Was much easier the second time. Think it'll work fine now and hopefully more stuf wont rattle loose. also adjusted the shocks, had a few beers and was done in less than 2 hours! practice, practice practice
