I had my Apex up on the lift checking it over and noticed the upper left a-arm is loose at the mounting point to the chassis. Checked the bolt & nut with a torque wrench and it's set to specs of 27 ft-lbs per the manual.
Any suggestions on how to correct other than a return trip to the dealer?
I have the sled apart to access the bolt(which means everything above the battery).
With a wrench on the nut or bolt, they rotate freely, checked the right side and that one turns, but takes some effort.

Normal play?
Sure doesn't seem normal to me. With 0 miles and the other 3 a-arms are fine, I don't buy it. Unacceptable!!!
I didn't measure the "play" for how loose it feels but if you hold the a-arm, it can be moved front to back maybe an 1/8th inch and where I really noticed it was if I grabbed the spindle (Yamaha calls it a knuckle?) at the bottom below the zerk and with the other hand at the top, it moves about the same distancein and out. The right side suspension has a very small, if any, movement.
Just doesn't seem right to me.

Does it only have play when the sled is suspended off the ground?
"Play" when on the ground?
Hey NB, good question, I will check it out. I did a bit more investigating and using a feeler gauge, there seems to be the same amount of space on both the left and right a-arms, about 1.4mm. Just that while the sled is up in the air, I can move the left arm forward and back, not the case with the right side-it won't move, maybe that'll change once I get a few miles on it?
Now to check it out with it on the ground.
"Update"-checked it with the sled on the ground, same thing. Looks like all the parts are there-bushings and all.

Normal condition. I had the same concerns with my rx-1's, they all are like this.

There are plastic washers at the ends of the arms on the rx. I don't know if they are still used on the apex but if one was not installed you could have the play you describe.
