Sorry if I'm re-posting this question. I've tried using the search but in the 124 pages it gives me I can't seem to find the problem I am having. For some reason I keep losing oil through my air box in two or three rides I am adding 200 to 300 ml of oil to bring it back up to level at first I thought it was a loose bolt or crack in my motor as the oil is on the front of motor no where near the oil filter. That's what lead me to the air box took it apart and found there was a film all through it and could see that's where it was coming from so I cleaned it up. I'm letting it warm up before I check the oil level and topping it up to 1/8 below the full mark with the dip stick unscrewed. this has got me at a loss as I can't figure out why its losing oil like this. It's been doing this for a couple of weeks now was hoping to solve it on my own but has me stumped now. Love my four stroke until I have to put oil in it like a two stroke. Lol. Any ideas? When it happens tomorrow I will take some pictures of it and post them.

I forgot to mention that it's losing enough oil to turn the oil light on which is when I check it will add a little to turn light off then let it warm up and check and add to correct level.

How are you checking the oil. If its coming out the air box it sounds like its overfull. If the oil light is only coming on when you first start it when it's fairly cold out that is somewhat normal. Mine does that frequently when it's real cold out.

you don't screw the dipstick in when your checking the oil. sounds like your over filling it. also your not tipping it on its side are you? this will cause oil to run into the airbox

No I am not screwing dip stick in and it very rarely is on it's side. Changed the oil when I took it apart so we will see if it does it today.

I had the same issue- checked my oil one day and it seemed low so I added oil- checked the oil later that day and it was over full

so I had to suck some out and now I keep it half way up the dip stick

Yup that's exactly what it is I just warmed it up and drove it around the yard checked it and was high. Don't understand why though oil level was fine when I checked after warming her up went for a little rip and in was a little high so I took some out. Thanks for all the replies

Oil spitting out into the airbox is somewhat normal on the Yammy engines, but 2-300mL after a few rides is not.

A couple of areas I would check for where it might be leaking out are the oil tank and the oil filter. I've heard cracks can form on the Nytro tanks...there are even aftermarket options due to the weakness of the oil tank. Regarding the oil filter, perhaps the last time the filter was changed, the rubber gasket from the old filter may have remained on the engine block? Then the new filter would have 2 gaskets sandwiched, which isn't common, but has occurred occasionally.

That's actually the first thing I looked at was the oil tank and filter. Figured since I was pulling the filter off I would just change the oil while I'm at it but neither was the problem. I think that I was putting to much oil in and was creating a siphon into the air box dropped the oil level to half way between marks and it isn't doing it anymore so far

Does the sled run ok? Maybe your getting excessive crankcase pressure due to piston blow by.

You always check the oil after warm up, never cold

Engine is running great. What for a good two hour ride this afternoon and the oil level is now staying consistent just can't fill it to the top line half way seems to be the sweet spot

The oil cooler is on the front of the block under the air box. The o-ring under the cooler leaked on my sled. It was hard to locate because it's out of sight unless you pull the air box.

I have to leave mine at the minimum level on the dipstick or it will blow out. It would mostly occur on long high speed lake runs but if I leave it at minimum never have an issue.

Problem was solved by only filling it to half way. Thanks for all the replies
