Hi everyone-Hope you are all doing well. I need some advice an my 17 LTX SW. Last season before my last ride and accident I installed a rear wheel kit from Yamaha. Before the kit install I was hitting 115-117 on the speedo. Last week on the same flat lake with great conditions I could only get 105. Will this kit take any top end off? I have 1,000 miles on the sled and need new hyfax which I ordered. Track tension and belt are within spec. I’m thinking about pulling the kit and see if it helps on my next trip. Anyone have any advice for me? Thanks in advance.

Check your clutch rollers. Possibly you knocked your engine out of alignment?
I highly doubt the extra wheels caused a loss in top speed.

I agree..... extra friction should scrub top speed. I had similar thoughts last year when I hit a brick wall at 110mph. After fourth wheel kit installed.
Today I pulled 120mph (speedo) with four wheel kit. Kinda last thought on the pull. Tomorrow I will be more intentional.
But agree, you shouldn't go faster with it. Idk.....

I don't see it being the wheels either. Look elsewhere.
Speed is very condition dependent!
