ok, so here is how it played out, my buddy with the mod f-7 broke in his replaced motor (ha, ha), so we decided to race since he was ready now, He won't say all of the things done to the sled, but we all know, when you have to lift the hood to turn knobs and push buttons, and the sled sounds like a harley there must be stuff done right, ok so after about 10 mins of him fu%king with this cat, he was ready we lined up on the lake, ( 1 inch of crusty ice on slush with 8 inches of ice under neath that, not ideal conditions at all but oh well, so we got to the start my other buddy on the skidoo parked that, and was the flag man ok ist time i win by about 7 sleds but hook up was kinda crappy for both ( 8 inch deep ruts in the lake nice) ok moved over to different spot, he wins by 3 legths, once again poor hole shots, 3rd time poor holeshots by both and lost by a sled. i guess he wins, so we get to the house, he has to let the sled cool off, turn all his knobs and doo dads off, while I sit back and watch whiling drinking a cold one. I'd rather have to turn a key, then waste 10 mins and look like a fool just to race, we will race on some hardpack the next trip, and we'll see what happens. Gotta love the RTX, simple, fast, low maintenence......

I would not consider it a lose - sounds like he is running a bunch of "stuff" and it doesnt sound very trail friendly.

How are the conditions in and around Hurley - we are scheduled to come that way next week - (big ZR900 and a Mach Z in the group - and me with my RTX)....?

Sounds like he's running NOS.

No NOS on the cat, he hasn't put that on yet, but does have it, we know that much, Also trails were actually great in the hurley area trail 77 was the worst but always is,, Michigan was good but trail 11 n out of Bessemer, was alittle iffy otherwise all trail were awesome, some bumps but more flat then anything, I'll be going up on the 18th again

sounds like he has a fuel regualeter eand a boondockerbox to control the timing and fuel. Those f7's are no slouches once you start doing mods to them.

I agree with pro116.. definitly sounds sliek a fuel regualtor and boondocker box... and probobly has a 2 degree timing key and clutching..

Not really a race if you cant hook up out of the hole..

Ill be racing a 05 with some of this stuff. this weekend.. ill keep ya posted!

There was an F7 up at lost pines in michigan this weekend that was giving alot of guys fits, i ran with him on the gt a couple times, but he was in front by a few on most runs. Those things will run when set up, thats for sure.

Find a nice lonnnng lake and don't back off til his headlight quits :drink: :drink: :drink:
Oh yeah, don't ferget to bring a rope.

Ran 126.3 with ours Sunday.... Should hit 127mph on stock motor, stock fuel mapping.. only geared, clutched, speedtrack and 170 pics. Ran 124 last year with stock track and trail studs....

Having said that, my buddy's APEX would make dog meat of me on hardplack this year.. . most likely, haven't raced but I've rode his APEX... it hauls a$$ to 100mph

Have never been beat on my Firecat in 3000' ..... lost a few short races to a 05 MACH Z last year when I had a trail set up.. MACH Z was running a speed track and pics at the time... Reason we evened the odds this year... owner hasn't shown up to the lake yet L!

I don't doubt it if there was a little extra in that F7 we ran into, he did admit to clutching and a fuel regulator or somehting, and said he had a different control box or somehting. He was a little to quick with the "I swear its totally stock" remark - Kinda like when mom used to walk into the room, and the room and the first thing outta your mouth was "We weren't doing anything!"

OK,So far I found his fuel regulator deal, sled is clutched, piped, also has the box to adjust other things ( I guess). Also since it was just rebuilt, I am not convinced that it wasn't bored into a 800 0r 900, He did take it to this little race shop, so anything is poosible, BUt one good thing about the guy is He told me what he wants to put on his Apex when he gets one, So he is turning in the right direction...

Hey spenc sounds like you got the old girl really hauling, wow high 120s that good on improved stock stuff, and i also heard woody got his apex er he won at brainerd Minn.last fall, running about the same speed as you almost that is think he said 2500 ft on the river last weekend he radared 125.7 not bad for a stock apex, just lightened up and timing key no fuel reg. or anything and of course lowered and race ready,he ran 122+ in the 1/4 on asphalt and 105+ at 6.32 in 660' asphalt..
