Hey guys,

I played around with ideas for the RAM AIR kit after seeing the FIX POWERSPORTS kit...the design is fairly simple with the MAIN component being an 18''x18" peice of black prefilter which i got from SLP......So the kit cost very little, only $35 bucks for the filter material(SLP p/n #14-253)

I did some handy sewing work...LOL..and used two peices of coat hanger, and some black zip ties.....

tools i used were a dremel with cutter and grinder peices...

I did all this with the top of airbox removed ....It has quite abit of bark!!...I havent rode it yet as i just finished it,i will report back tomorrow as to RPMS changes and how it works overall.

here are the pics.

I'm very interested in how this works for you. Good job! Other then sound, it would be nice to get some hp's out of this DIY mod. I've also read on other forums that we could be leaning our Apex's out with this mod? Keep us informed. Thanks!

I would be careful with these mods Supertuner has said there are some very lean spots on the power band....

Hey Craig....Freddie has my sled and hopefully he will have some info soon.

I'VE RAN THE RAM-AIR FOR 800 MILES, IT ROCK'S, IT BOG'S ALITTLE FOR 60 MILES THEN IT MUST ADJUST TO THE AIR, MORE POWER FOR SURE

goood job buddy, looks great! enjoy that snow!..i'll be up next weekend when it turns to beach like conditions.

Man you really did a nice job, hope it works out for you. If it works i might follow you steps and try it...

Ok..im heading out to ride !....sunny,minus 10c and perfect....man we got the best conditions here now..still over 4 feet snow in bush and trails groomed to a T of perfection.......Ill post back on how the mod works tonight guys...

time to ride!
Dan

Looks Good

Thanks for the info. I'll try it out soon, hope mine turns out as good. Has anyone been over to Huack's site? He's posting a K&N kit for the Apex. I don't know, but some combination of these two kits could give more HP. Anyways just a thought.

Guys,

I put about 250 miles on over weekend onto my ram air kit and proline clutching....all works well!..

it revs to 11000 still...exact same as before ram kit..it did NOT increase my rpms whatsoever that i could notice...It did make the sled alot louder in front, from behind it sound exactly same..ran into the cops on trail and they didnt say athing about noise...as long as your off throttle its quiet still. until you crack it..sounds like ducks quacking!....

i cracked it a few times when passing people at the firey grill in dorset and they jumped!..LOL...it barks!..

all in all,i honestly cant feel any difference from ram kit...if and when we get our track plowed off i can test it on the gun...easy to pull one off and replace with stock lid...

for the 35 bucks the prefilter cost me,i love it...but if i had spent 300 from FIX and honestly i dont think theirs looks nearly as good as mine,id be mad.....too much money for little gains...if it shows more gain on the gun then ill post.

dan

Thanks for the honest results. Will you be able to test it out on the gun before the end of the season?

Daryl and Ed will be up tuesday and we are hoping to try to plow it off,but the snow is deep here and they are calling for rain and much milder weekend coming...so who knows what will happen...

If I get a chance to radar it i will surely post...Possibly we will just get out on hardpack to see how much it will run over a stocker..???..

Nice work Dan!

Sorry I didn't call on Sat night, was watching the UFC and lost track of time. We went for a big loop on Sunday as well didn't really stay local like I thought we were going to. You going home this week?

Cheers,
