Hi all!
So I bought my 06 RTX 2 years ago. I was told by the previous owner that he had put a clutch kit in it. The problem is it's wayyyy to heavy, my clutch doesn't engage until around 5000 RPM making it jerky on the trails. I want to go back to stock or at the very least have a softer engagment. I don't know what was added (weights or rollers) and what needs to be removed. The Primary has a black spring and my secondary has a White(or Silver?) With blue marks on it. Any help would be appreciated

That's not a lot to go on. Did you receive the old clutch parts from the previous owner? You have a few options: either disassemble the clutch and find out what parts are actually in it (or have somebody do it for you if you don't have the skills) so that you can possibly adjust the components to your liking. Or go out and buy the stock components and install them. Or some combination of those 2 approaches.

Yeah I don't have the original parts. I was just wondering how to identify the aftermarket clutch parts from the originals

the stock weights will look flat and triagulaly square the stock primary spring is black and has color paint marks on it to identify its character. and the stock helix is just plain cast alum not shinny.

you could always try travis at barn of parts soft start primary spring.

no it will maybe cause premature belt wear but go ahead and play around just make sure you put things back together with blue lock tite each time so nothing flies apart and find your happy spot. Sled has a rev limiter so you cant really hurt it.

Hi Steve, sounds like the last guy had a very high engagement primary spring, get the Yamaha Pink-Blue-Pink has engagement of 20 and shift out of 119 this could very well be the same as Barn of Parts soft engagement spring. Change the spring out and see how the sled performs, this may be all that is required.

Thanks for the advice, when you say shift out of 119 what do you mean by that?
Those numbers mean the spring tension (either in kg/mm or pounds/inch) at installed (engagement) and fully closed. Since you don't know what spring is in it, that may not be of any help since you can't compare.
