Spent the last few days reading.

I dont own a gps, never even used a gps.

but I do like the thought of having wisonsin trail maps as an option.

where do I even begin? Are all trail maps programmable? Do you have to buy the card? Do I have to download them?

told ya Im an idiot...we will get a few of the easy stuff out of the way before I get into the tough stuff :)

also would be nice for driving so would probably mount in truck as well.

Lowrance came out with the H2O color. Works with ease, nice size screen and mounts very easy. I will post pictures of the GPS and the mount on my Apex as soon as I get to my trailer.

Lowrance H2O Color

Here is a pic. of my install using a ram mount. Drilled two holes and used self tapping screws, pluged in the Lowrance using the supplied cord and done. It might have taken 15 minutes.

which ones can I specially download or plug cards in for trail maps or features when they become available?

This H20 has built in base map of the US. It will hold a 1GB SD card inside. You can program up to six different cards that will hold additional info like topo, marine, ect. I'm going to get the Map Create US topo 7 which will have all the little side roads in the us plus more stuff than I will ever use. It will have all the small numbered roads in the UP of MI. This thing is easy to use and see while riding and all the function keys are on top and I can use them without taking a glove off. Very pleased, I got it recomended by a college type that took GPS mapping in school.
