I installed 2 Fixpowersports' mid wheel kits. Eliminated the slider wear issue for me.

I know this topic is about extra wheel kits but I wanted to let you guys know what worked for me. Last season me and a buddy were experiencing the same problem, his was worst than mine, but I attributed that to the fact that I had my sled earlier than him and was riding in ungroomed snow, therefore my slides wore in better than his. By the time he got his sled the groomers were out full tilt and he was riding in less loose snow therefore his slides burned easier. That's just my theory.

We added anti-wear pads to the closed windows of our tracks. Worked like a charm, no more sticky slides, and the sled rolled easier. I was worried about the extra rotational mass affecting mph and mpg but it wasn't an issue. I highly recommend them to anyone. If I don't swap out the track on the XTX when I get it (for one fully clipped) I will be adding these before the first ride.

my anti wear pads came with the same order as my wheels, so i will have extra wheels and anti-wear pads...should work like a charm...i hope!!

Rik,

Iwas looking at those, so that anwers that question. Do you also run studs? If so any issues?

I have 144 studs with no issues. These wheels are two seasons old with over 5000 kms and still look brand new. They are lasting very well.

I was at the dealer today and they had an XTX on the floor, after sizing it up I noticed that all of the windows are open but only clipped every third, so I may need to add more clips.

Please do a search on this subject. This one has been done to death. :dead:

Marginal Snow Wheels and Idler Updates

OK. I know this has been done to death. But I have a question for you RS pilots. I'm looking in my local suppliers cataloge and see a Kimpex Idler Wheel Kit. The add says "less friction=more speed & less wear" It comes with a new axle, aluminum, two wheels and bearings etc. On the same page is the Kimpex marginal wheels kit.
OK so I've read about Bob Davis and how everyone has this problem. In one of the postings to Hondo someone said Kimpex now has a direct fix. Is this it? Has anyone used it and what success have you had? Did you use more than one kit in different locations?
I'm OK with my hands but no mechanic. I really need some direction.
