Ok that’s what I thought. I did realize that snowbeast rides in the S part of the County. If you change the top gear to 22, and keep the stock 41 bottom gear, can you use the same/stock chain?
Thanks Steve.
Yes, stock chain fits, and top gear through Babbits is only $22. Cheap upgrade and will pay big dividends when you visit the beds in Caribou. Lol

Don't know what kind of conditions you were running on, but that mph seems way low as these speedos are out about 8mph at high speeds. I GPS'd 116 once on the trail with 24/48 using the longer 8dn belt and as I just recently posted I did 124 gps with 21/41 at 260hp on an srx.I first put in the 22T with my first Tune, it was TD Eco Trail. I found with stock gearing my sled would run up to 114 on speedo before falling on it’s face and thereafter, it was one or two more mph at a time. You know what I mean.
So with the same everything but a 22T instead, the same thing happened but at 117, and because My buddy and I are always testing sleds against each other’s, the gain was apparent throughout entire runs. If we were ice racers and were heavily studded, the 21T may work better down low.
I have since added the TD Max Spool 16 tune, so there is no sense going back to a 21T for me. But that is just my 2 cents, but I do agree with all Snowbeast has said pertaining. Just a better gearing, so much smoother all around too.
I am keen to see if I can get 120mph on my sled with stock belt and 24/48.

Yes I am in southern Aroostook, and we don't have as huge highways as northern maine does, but the 22 top gear just runs good in all conditions that we encounter, and I am ok with that,ya I may have had a tad more snap corner to corner with it,but it has had that gear from day one till now,and I have had very good luck, now 5000 miles on sled and tuned from day one,and still have only blown one belt, and it was a stock 8jp w/1100 hard miles on it,when I gave it the jam on ITS83 just north of Houlton,i had just came out onto the rr bed off from ITS86 from Oxbow, and had been hard on the jam all the way acrossed that road,so when I got onto the bed,the belt was already smoking hot,and I did not back off for a second, till it blew at about 115 speedo, into a million pieces. Thanks my friend!! Hope you’re well. Hope to see you this season when I’m up.

Last year I found the DTYA-1s a little heavy for this tune also thats why I scored a set of QAY70s for this year. I too was thinking around 73g to start.I'm running DTYA-1 empty which weigh 74.74g on my scale and its just a bit too heavy. So if I switch the QAY-70s this year I am going to load them to 73g as a start.

Last year I ran the dalton black teal, dtya1s empty, 41-35 dalton and gen1 dalton black orange at 6-1 with 21/41 gearing. I found the weight a tad bit heavy.

I am keen to see if I can get 120mph on my sled with stock belt and 24/48.
As stated that is when the sled would start to slow down, or as call it, fall on it’s face! And the conditions are on groomed trail with inches of snow or meal on top. Had seen much higher speeds back then after holding it for another 10 seconds or so! Last years top speed with Max Spool 16 on a well groomed and packed snowmobile trail across a lake was 126 on speedo. Have compared GPS speeds with speedo many times. Under 100 it’s dam close, 1 or 2 diff. 100 to 120 off by, 3. Something. Higher speeds are off by 4.
Now if you are talking glare ice and a well studded track, and a mile or more run, I do know my gearing will allow for 133( eco trail/glare ice/spinning with Ice Attak track) on speedo. New track and studs this year so I hope to find that spot this year to see if it will surpass my all time speedo reading without any spinning. If I do I shall make sure to use my phone GPS as I have been using. Just for shits and giggles, we have compared our phone gps s to a dash mounted Garmin GPS. Same readings.
I do realize that on ice you do not feel that fall on it’s face thing as much, and it happens at a bit higher speeds.
My old RX1 which was well studded, would pick up 13 mph from hard pack to glare ice.

My gps at 116.4 and speedo was 119-120. Pretty accurate. Just for comparison, on that same day my buddy with his Apex/Yamacharger, held it WOT for a much longer period on a downhill portion of that run, and saw 137 on his speedo and when he got to where I was waiting we checked out his GPS speed, it was 123!,,Last year I when I hit 116 gps my speedo read 124.
He then tried mine and let up when he saw 126 on my speedo.

My findings have been very subjective from speedo to GPS,conditions conditions and conditions dictate good readings, anytime we are on lose snow, you have track spin, and track spin effects top speeds a lot, weather gps or speedo,i have seen my gps vrs speedo w/in 2 mph up 8 mph or more between speedo and gps,but most of the time my gps is lower by 4-5 mph.

Yamaha didnt have the marketing department involved in setting up the speedos on these sleds as much as the yellow marketing department. Had a few fun bar discussions about how insanely fast big 2 strokes go but the next day on the lake there was 20 or 30 km/hr missing LOL.
