I think if you run low 120s on rough trails in stock trim you are fairing quite well. Any changes you mention will be step backwards IMO. If want to spend money to go faster, biggest bang for buck is tune IMO.
Fleecer.....this one will perform as billed. Zero coil bind. No issues recognized. With that said, Speedos are off possibly 3/4mph. Will have GPS numbers asap. To verify.

Tune on pump is safe to 250hp with pump gas. Once you get above those levels you rolling dice. If you get some marginal gas it's game over. Get a TD trail tune and leave it at that. I know some of these guys claim 280~290 with 93 octane, But where are you getting reliable 93 octane? Listen to the voice of reason and it will save your motor. Sooner or later your gonna get some crap gas. Been there done that! 240~250hp you will get 130mph with the right gears, trust me you don't want to go any faster anyway. I always give my gas a shot of Hitrate for extra insurance.

I've purchased my sidewinder to trail ride only. trail rode Wis Northwoods with a 1" track. On both an 800 & 600 for many yrs.
The 137" sidewinder has a 1.25" lug.
While I too want the occasional burst of top end rush when out on the lake, I don't want to give up too much traction on the trail. In stock form my winder has hit 121/122 speedo indicated in very rough condition.
Most of you guys are changing out the muffler & plugging in a tune. I get it. So here's my question.......
I was wondering if any guys have had good success with going to a 1" track and gearing up to a 22t? It almost seems like most are going to do this at some point to achieve even more top speed.
Is it worth it to switch? And what are we talking about as far as gains?
I realize speedo is off, but those are still good numbers in stock trim IMO.

This year the knock control/light ect should help push the tuners even higher, with more safety when fuel is questionable. Just gotta be a smart owner/rider when upping your maps into the insane territories. Gotta have some control of the right thumb on those long hauls for sure.Tune on pump is safe to 250hp with pump gas. Once you get above those levels you rolling dice. ClutchMaster very wise .
Higher tunes in fuel and exhaust controlled settings only. Careless tuning like lean running on a 2 stroke > leads to stranded > towing > aggravation > money > wasted season >

Yes this is true but at those levels by the time you see the light it's too late. My race car has timing and boost knockdown when deto is sensed but even with those features you can damge the motor. High boost detonation snowballs from the heat that's created by it. It goes from mild deto to wild deto in milliseconds. Is there a knock sensor on all sidewinders? I can't imagine them not having one. Good rule of thumb is if you pull 5 degrees of timing with 12lbs of boost to stop the knock, you will need twice that at 24lbs of boost to stop the knock. I have seen evo's that run 28psi boost on pump gas and the only way to stop the knock once it had started was to drop boost pressure. Reducing timing even 15 degrees couldn't control the knock once it started. So just because you have a knock sensor doesn't mean you'll be ok.

A street/race car has the luxury of planning fuel stops.
I think we are getting very close to some very cool technology that will take some of the worry out of it.
If I had money I'd already be tuned. I have to wait until I feel the market can't deliver much more. Then jump on something.
Just don't like the wait......
