MBRP Exhaust Difference?

Can you use the yamaha turn outs that are in the catalog? Are the covers and end caps the same? I don't know.

Well the way chief explained it to me was that the exhaust covers on the outside are different, and for the short apex exhaust covers they cost 61USD each. So I guess ill go with hauck.

If you run studs, you cant use the Hauck, the studs will hit the muffler. This has happened to tons of people.

The bender WILL break on you.

Ya guys, the tip trim pieces are visually very different angles on the fiche. without seeing them side by side, it's too hard to tell how much different the outlets are but it would be safe to bet that if manufacturers are making two styles then they are probably too different to work right. The can, mounts and input pipes are all the same, it's this tweak at the end of the outlets that is the issue.

I have a Hauck Mountain exhaust I run on my Attak when in the UP POWER; gained 3-400 rpm on top. More rpm, same clutching and gearing, means more power. LIGHTER; YES!! WAAAY lighter . LOUDER; YES!! WAAAYY louder. The exhaust caps should be changed. The outlets do point out at an angle. So, it stands to reason the Mountain and flatland exhausts are interchangeable. Just need to check the fit of your caps and decide if you want to change them. Or, modify the pipe outlet to exit on an angle.

What do you mean Dave?
All I see on hauck powersports inc is,
The regular silencer and the new LOUD one.
Do you have the loud one?

And aswell I won't be running studs as I have a apex mountain so no need for studs on a 162 track :D

Mine is a couple yrs. old so I imagine it is what they call their quiet pipe. It isn't. Quiet that is. While boondocking it is acceptable. BUT, we ride through towns when trail riding and I have to be VERY careful with the throttle then. And on the trail it is annoyingly loud. BUT the weight loss and power increase are worth it when riding in deep offtrail conditions. I have the complete exhuast. Header and silencer in the mountain version.

Was it hard to switch them over? The hauck exhaust dont look it has the same design as the original exhaust like in my above reply. Would you happen to have a soundclip or video of yourself?

I have been videoed riding it, but don't have a sound clip. The actual installation of the exhust wasn't bad Mine was used, so I had no written instructions. Just remember to soak the bolts that hold the clamps between the bellows and the y pipe with a good penetrating oil before you start disassembly. The only issue I had was reinstalling the muffler heat shield. I had to remove the side shields that are spot welded to the main shield. Then I trimmed the opening to clear the new pipes. They come up at a different angle than stock. THEN, i had to figure out a way to mount the shield. It bolts to the stock muffler and then your j bolts for the seat hook into the shield to secure the seat. Ya, some written instructions would have helped LOL! I fabricated some 1.5x1.5 angle iron clips with holes for a pop rivet on one side and a hole with a nut welded to it for a mounting point. I really wish I had taken pics of all this while I was doing it, but I was working in an unheated garage with outside temps of -15 F LOL. I then used the relief that is cast into the rear of the tunnel, between the extension and tunnel, as ny mounting point for the clips. Slipped the heat shield on and marked it for drilling Drilled the holes and mounted it. Sounds more involved than it actually was. WOW, that was a LOT of typing. I will try and get pics next weekend when I start my preseason teardown.

Wow a lot of information to accept. I guess it isnt the same anymore as a 2 stroke where you just swap, rejet and go again LOL. Some pictures would help, but it seems like a bit of fabrication is involved. Sigh lol. Do you have any links for the videos recorded of you?

Mine isn't that loud. I KNOW tha tlink works when using it as a cut and paste. The blooper vid is posted on the 2 stroke site and works when not posted as a hyperlink. I'll keep trying.

Hmm. Well here is a video of the regular hauck exhaust of some guy aswell.
Does your match this sound?

Aswell I got your link to work. Can't really hear through the distortion, but it gave me a smile and a few laughs :)

YUP! That's it! Glad you got the link to work. My wife watched it and was OK until the last segment. She doesn't understand our need to do what she calls Stupid Man Stuff LOL!
That sound clip was short and didn't capture the resonance that you'll here at steady throttle position. BUT, where you're riding I am sure it would be acceptable for noise .
