Will the Mitsu BOV on the MCX leak at a certain amount of boost or is it unlimited?

I am going to be looking for a BOV, and have the same question. I need one that will take 30# (GT2871). I am presuming that we will have to go the Billet route, but I'm wondering what others are using.
Thanks Tom

the hks ssqv is supposed to have a unlimited high & low end from what i have read on them.----------------------------------------------------------------The HKS Super Sequential Blow-Off Valve (SSQV) is a dual stage pull-type relief valve. Unlike typical push type blow-off valves, the SSQV will not leak under any level of boost because the boost pressure in chamber "C" keeps the valve closed against its seat (Diagram 1). The SSQV releases excess boost when there is a pressure alteration in chambers "A & B", not by the rate of boost pressure or vacuum in the line. This ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. Many competitors use a push-type blow-off valve design with a large valve to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. These large valves react slowly and require high pressure to open, and are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting push-type valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to slowly open and leak as boost pressure overpowers the spring. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, and a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions (Diagram 2), then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions (Diagram 3). The SSQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability and a high luster look. The mounting base utilizes a circular mounting flange that combines with a C-clip snap ring and O-ring gasket to insure an excellent seal. The triple-fin discharge port design produces a powerful, unique and aggressive blow-off sound.
The HKS SSQV is available in vehicle specific kits or as a universal unit for custom applications. Vehicle specific HKS SSQV kits come complete with all mounting flanges, brackets, and miscellaneous hardware for an easy installation. For Universal SSQV applications, weld-on flanges are available in steel or aluminum for custom installation.

I am fine with the performance of my Mitsu BOV, its just that I suspect I have a leak somewhere cause I have a tough time building boost over 20. Also on Sat I heard a whistling sound from my motor area and thought maybe it was the BOV leaking. I think I will remove it and put in a higher rated one.

My friend and I have the same MCXpress 16T rear mount kit in. He have been at MCXpress with his sled for a dyno and tune session. They adviced him to remove the mitsubishi BOV from the left side of the intercooler, they had a plate to seal off the hole where the old bov was. MCXpress got him a new BOV (malpassi) and installed it on the charge tube hose right in front of the intercooler. MCXpress said that they were not satisfied with the performance of the Mitsubishi on higher boost levels. My friend had his sled set up with boost at 14-15 lbs when he visited MCXpress.

Now that is some good info. And just what I suspected. I would have emailed MCX but they are slow to reply if at all and when they do sometimes its hard to understand them. I think I will remove the bov and install an HKS.

Freak - Yeah I know, guess their inbox is beeing flooded LOL. Hard to get in contact with them by mail during winter season, guess they are all up in work shipping them turbos worldwide.
Talking to people in our neighbor contry of Sweden is easy, our languages are so closely related we understand each other perfectly well. BTW MCXpress is only 450 miles away from where I live

Found it on MCX site. I dont like that style. They just use a piston and spring and I dont think they seal perfectly. Fine if you dont run max boost but I want all the boost my turbo will produce. Will go with the HKS

Bosch makes one, comes factory on Audi turbo cars about 60 CDN. I don't know how it would be at high boost.
I use a 2" ID TIAL, it dumps a
load of boost when it opens up.

I didn't get that one either, my friend is still fighting throttlechop, no use buying it if it isn't a complete cure. HKS SSQV universal should take whatever boost. I'm starting testing at 16 lbs right now, have rejetted to 140 mains for sealevel to 1500 ft riding, will see how the mitsu bov does.

Did test ride the sled a few miles today after rejetting for 16 lbs of boost. At 10 lbs of boost I have near to no throttlechop. At 16 lbs the throttlechop is back. When I land the front after pulling the skis into the air, and let them come down hard, or if I jump it chops, then it cleans up fast. Any input on a permanent cure is apreciated.
