What do you guy's with these kit's do for tunnel/stud protection on the side with the pre cooler? Pix would be nice if possible. Thinking about a 200 kit and this is about the only concern I have. Thanks!

1/4 " aluminum spacers on all protector mounts on right side and the left rear.
3/8 " rubbers on top of protectors front and rear both sides
Had to fab up custom mounts to fasten left protector front and middle.
You have to bend the protectors under the Turbo crossbar mount.
Sorry, no pics.
If you get the 290 kit make sure you get a boost controller or at the very least back off the boost from max at least 6 turns. The sled is an animal at 14 lbs boost but drivable once you get used to it. Above that it is pretty scary and I don't scare easily.

Thanks, I have 1/4" spacer's in now from stock, will I need another 1/4" or would that be enough. Plus the fab on left. Also it sounds like the mag cover does not need to come off to install the return pump? And then where does it return to after the pump? Thanks!

Depends on what you are running for studs, track & whether a 128 or 144 Apex.
I am running a Hacksaw with Megabyte 1.17's on an XTX. No issues with just the 1/4 extra.
1.325's on a Ripsaw should be fine as well as that would have 1/10" less penetration than my set up.
Any more penetration than that and you would want another 1/4 " Strip riveted to the bottom of the protector IMHO. [especially around the Turbo cross mount]
I bought the sled used out your way from 4Kops and Ulmer did the install so I cant answer your Mag & oil line questions. Sorry.

Ok I remember Allans right up with pix. I have been talking with Allan as well and I know he has some kind of a mount for the protector's just wondering if someone head somthing different.
I have a 128 rip saw with 1.325's With the protector's shimed 1/4". the track is touching the protector's as is and I have no stud contact any where so should be good.
Have you had any issue's with your sled?

Here is the build link. You might get your ?'s answered here.

I wish I could tell you that you will be good with the studs but I can't on the 128. The 4 of us on this site and another aquaintance running the kit with studs, are fine but we are all running XTX's. [ my skid is dropped to the bottom hole on the rear bracket as well.]
That being said we did not drop more than you have already done, so I tend to think you are right and are likely going to be fine.
I have had no issues other than I think I need to port the Wastegate as I think it is making too much boost at max setting on the rod. GSXR has 10,000 KM on his, part at 200 hp the rest at 290 hp with no issues as well. [Glen ported his wastegate.] I see Robbie looking fo an engine so maybe he had an issue. [He and Stone race theirs and kick some serious #*$&@] My aquantance had his break the intercooler tie down rod but that could have been an install issue. [ It was an easy fix]
You will need to go to a 26 gear up top at least if you run the 290 on a shorty and maybe higher up top or lower on the bottom. There is a ton of power for a 128" 1.25 track in the 290 kit . [ It actually makes about 315 hp. MCX is known to under promise and over deliver.]

No I wouldn't try going more than the 200 kit with only a 128" track! Sounds like the 200 kit is more like 210 + any way. I would put the 24/37 back in from the 24/40 that I have in now as well. I talked with Allan again and it sounds like the front tunnel protector bracket is the only one that needs to be changed so the pre cooler will clear. I talked with Stone also and it sounds like he ran his 200 kit at 6LB and thought that would be 220-230HP and was smoking the stage 2 and 3 Cat's. LOL! I think that would be a safe but fun trail setup.
Any way thanks for the input and the link. Kevin

Sounds like you have a good handle on it.
Not sure Allan is right on just one bracket to be fabbed but he has likely done more tunnel protection than me so he likely is.
I think the MCX 200 kit prolly makes 220 ish hp at our elevations and temperatures. The air to air intercooler runs ice cold on my Ape vs my old Supercharged RX1 which seems to be close to 90F.
I plan to dial my MCX back to 8 psi for trail riding when I get my Hallman boost controller installed this summer.

I'am not vergin to boost, had a CPR Attak for a while and work with a friend and two Turbo RX-1 drag sled's, one running upper 140's 660' on ice. I just know what a night mare boost can be and kind of forgot about it for trail till I kept reading how dependable the MCX kit's are. Just don't want to give up the Yamaha dependability!

Now that is fast. [140 in 660]
I know what you mean. even though my MPI Super Charged RX-1 was no trouble for me I sold it and went bone stock for two years just to cut the worry down a little.
Missed the boost too much so back in again. Trouble free so far but if I go on a long trip I'll probably take the stocker. GSXR has had no issues with long trips on his though.
Go for it. We only live once.

Ok, I took your advice. I bought Stone88s 200 kit from him yesterday. Now I can tell my wife it's your fault. LOL, now it will be a long summer. I think I will read through the instruction's good and get going on the install, at least than I can hear it run on an occasion through the summer.

Congratulations Kevin.
I figured you were probably considering Stones kit. Good purchase.
You are going to love it .
