Hi,

On the last rides of the season I noticed a small exhaust leak on my 180 MCX powered Nytro.

It can only be heard when i block off the exhaust so that it has no where else to go..

Where do i start looking for the leak? Is the flex pipes / doughnuts the most common or what?

I'm guessing that may be it, as I had to adjust the wastegate control arm much farther in to achieve the same boost levels as my riding buddy.

Or what do you think?

Thanks guys.

Thats what i figured out too.. Since the sled has 7400 kms on it, and i have been hitting the rev limiter a bit too.

Can't wait for the fall to come, so that ones get motivated to work on the sled again.

just replace the donuts as they are cheap and on a turbo should be replaced pretty regularly, and while your in there, check for cracks around any of the welded joints, thats where most cracks show up at.

OFT racing stocks copper donuts now ;)!

Get the copper donuts. Do not adjust the WG-arm to raise boost, install a manual or electronic boost controller.

Copper donuts is on the way. Bought it from a guy here on the forum. Will come back with more info when i open her up to see if there is a bigger leak, or if the donuts is the sinner.

Thanks

I've seen the Y-pipes worn down pretty bad. Could be it, have you checked them?

I found the leak, it is in the weld were the middle pipe on the header mounts to the bracket.

The exhaust donuts actually didn't look that bad, even with 7500 kms on them - 3000 kms turboed.

Will get it welded this week and start to mount it together next weekend.

Do you use any kind of sealant / gasket between the exhaust pipe and the turbo?

Also do you use any sealant between the copper donuts and flex pipes/ header?

I was also gonna change the spark plugs today, until i found out the dealer gave me wrong plugs.. I dont think the BR9ES plugs will fit, no matter how much i want them to. :o|

No sealant required in there.

B's are completely wrong, 14 millimeter sockets, hard to get them to fit hahahaha

C's are what you want, they have 10 millimeter sockets whick will fit LOL :-)

Hehe, iknow. It was a joke :jump:

I'll pick up some C plugs next time im at the dealer.

Good thing i have my farm sled that needs new plugs. A 81 model ET 340.
Now thats a real ride.

Yeah, brings back memories, riding a piece of log hahaha but it will run forever. Those sleds made us good riders as they are far away from deep snow sleds, even tho we managed to ride them almost everywhere except for the real steep stuff.

Its also a great tool - carrier for those days when other sleds break down in the middle of the mountain. Of course not my yamaha, but the cats im riding with.

hahahahaha you had me thinking for a second LOL, cause you need a sled to pull the sleds of the dark side back home :-)
