Hey there!
I want do stretch the viper xtx from 141-153 with rail extension or buy 153 rails, So Is it somebody who knows if i can put a challenger extreme track with 2,5" lug ht with the 8 tooth drivers and 3 Pitch ?? Or do i have to buy 7 tooth drivers.
And Will this kit fit the viper xtx?

Or do i need shorter shocks ?

We will be extending ours to 162, we are using OEM cat rails on ours. They are fairly inexpensive. The drivers I have not researched yet but finding our what drivers there m series uses should tell us.
That is the front end that OFT Racing is already stocking for the viper and will be endorsing. It uses a 17" shock and from the information from Z broz it sounds like the stock Viper front end uses longer shocks unfortunately. If that's the case I will be upgrading to Elka's on mine.
I will have more information on exactly what you're looking for soon, we will be doing quite a few of Mountain Viper conversions between OFT Racing and Anchorage Yamaha.

Honestly though. . .Why would you do the Zbroz front end over stock 38 stance? If you go over to Snowest there is a 38 a-arm kit on the swapmeet for like $250.
As far as the rails your best bet is stock cat rails or go with iceage(about $550 for a set)
7 tooth drivers are about 6.7 inches and 8tooth is 7.65 inches to the same spot. This ends up being about .5 more on radius. If you want to run a 2.5 it will work i think but it will be tight. I am sure guys were running 3in tracks on stock drivers but saying it is fairly tight in the tunnel.

If you don't mind me answering your question with a question. Why are there stock front ends for sale on Snowest?
Because they have upgraded to aftermarket arms.
For my personal sled, I've just dropped roughly $12k on a new sled. I have to replace the front end to convert it to a mountain, so I'd rather spend the $300 extra to get a light weight, 4130 front end that these guys feel its worth doing to there sled that is already narrow. I've got 2 sets of the Z-Broz arms in my shop right now to have done a first hand quality inspection on the products I sell and I'm impressed.
But you are correct for the cheapest way to get your sled narrowed.
As for rails, as you mentioned Ice Age is a great option too as there are complaints from the Cat guys about rail strength. I will probably be adding Ice Age rails in 153,162 and 174 to the website as well.

Here are some Cat part numbers that I came up with to do a 153" conversion.
1607-119 Tunnel Rear 153" HCR (bare aluminum version)
3604-644 Rail 153" (bare aluminum machine finish)
3604-667 Cross shaft (the 153" skids use an additional cross shaft back by the rear axle)
1707-500 Rear bumper 153" (Black painted)
2602-482 153" Track (new style 2.6" lug powerclaw)
5639-938 38" A arm kit (Black, also comes with shock spacers to shorten them)
The XTX uses 8 tooth 3" pitch drivers. These are the same as on the Proclimbs that run the 2.6" Powerclaw track, so I'm thinking a driver swap shouldn't be required. I was in the dealer today and they said that my sled (XF7000) should be in by mid September.
Once the sled gets here, I'll have a better idea whats involved to do a 153" conversion.

Good info Bill,
I would question the fitment of the shock spacers though since that kit is designed for the 40" M sleds not the 42" F/Viper. It lists the sleds it will fit and does not show anything but M series.
Also worth noting, The Cat Rails in 153 natural are $160 each retail. Ice Age rails include Hyfax and have free shipping in the US for $375. So if you order at your dealer you save $65, but with the Ice Age you get the increased strength of Ice Age Rails and hyfax.

Thanks alot.
I think the viper will be perfect for me with
* tunnel rear 153 from Hcr or made a short one and paint it black
* rails 153 Hcr
* 17" fox float 2 shocks
* 38" a arm kit from Z broz
* Challenger extreme track
* MCX 270 or 190
And some other small parts

Rick, forgive me for not knowing the crowd down in Anchorage all that well, but are you affiliated with Anchorage Yamaha? I was thinking about picking up a Viper and doing something similar to the plans in this thread. I stopped by Northern Power up here in Fairbanks late this spring to look at the Viper they had out for display, I liked the setup. I was able to ride a friend of mines HCR last year and liked the handling, really got excited about the Nytro motor in that chassis.
I followed Caleb's build from last year, and that was amazing work you all did. If I get down that way this winter it'd be fun to go for a ride. I'll shoot you a PM, I need some parts that OFT sells.
Sorry for the thread jack

Mnypit, Rick is affiliated to anchorage yamaha you could say. I own anchorage yamaha and he is my riding buddy and friend to say the least. If you're looking for anything viper related, give us a shout and I'm pretty sure we have you covered!
We are very anxious to get our sleds and start modifying them to our needs. I haven't made my mind up as of yet if I want a 162 or 174. Either way I will have zbros front end and a turbo on it. It can't get here soon enough!

Good point Rick, I was wondering about the spacer sizing as well.
There is a local guy here that is pretty much the guru of all things Cat. Once I get the sled, the plan is to take my shocks in to him and have him compare lengths, valving, etc and modify them for mountain duty and the narrower front end.
I'm going to narrow the front end to 38" and ditch the sway bar for sure, as it is a nice improvment on the M1100T (a 40" stance stock) and I would think that it should work out nicely on the Viper/XF7000 as well.

Right on, I figured you two were pretty close from reading Calebs build; you guys are a wealth of knowledge! I'm hopefully going to get the turbo onto my Nytro this year, still doing lots of research on turbo sizing and what I can use. I have an H1C Holset turbo laying around that I think would work out ok. I actually think I may have met you a few years back, just before I bought my Nytro. I stopped in after I roasted a cylinder on my Mountain Max mod. Are you the really tall guy? haha
Stoked to see your guys' builds on the Vipers, may have to buy one next year if I get back down towards Anchorage.
Shoot me a Email if you have any questions on your Turbo system I'm always happy to help.

Haha, yes I'm the really tall guy and that's how many people remember me so I roll with it. Like Rick said, if you have questions we have answers, keep in touch to see some cool sleds coming out soon!
