No ice, just made it hard to breathe at faster speeds.
I am not trying to convince you or anyone else to go with a different helmet. I am just explaining my experience. If the BRP mod helmet works for you... great. It doesn't for me.

Hats are different for everyone...I believe you ...I just thought you would explain what you thought happened at high speed to cause difficult breathing. From a mechanical point of view it should not happen.... Ice... yes can block tubes & once in there you are screwed until you can thaw out but high speed puzzels me???No ice, just made it hard to breathe at faster speeds.

It puzzled me too because a lot of people like them... even 2 riders in my group... but it didn't for me.

One of my buds thought he was having a heart attack, seriously, couldn't breath the longer and faster we rode. Eventually got him to take the helmet off - suddenly he could breath, then we discovered the ICE in the airway passages. Funny in retrospect scary at the time.

Yep as soon as the breathbox starts to get sucked in you know icing is happening along the air passage way....clear it & good to go. Tell tale is suck in big breath & if breath box gets sucked in too you have ice & not moving air thru...easy fix... poke it out with finger or use spare breathbox. Heavy breathers learn all the tricks.lolOne of my buds thought he was having a heart attack, seriously, couldn't breath the longer and faster we rode. Ckx tranz !
Sunshield to
I dont like the new 1,5 whit ruber mask shorter chin or neck wind protection
When you still have 150 miles to go at night and it is -25 you NEED a heated shield! I like the green light on the shield!!! I know Bv2S is very good when used correctely ! But expensive electic shield aroud 200$ here and it is heavy and the fit is not good for me.

I love the BVS2. The breathing mask means you never fog. Only reason for a heated shield is during freezing rain. Otherwise, its unnecessary. The mod 1 is nice, but the rubber on the breathing mask was known for breaking and could be difficult to snap with gloves. The BVS2 is a much nicer design. I still don't understand why they went back to that mod 1 style breathing mask for mod 2...

Yeah I think a lot of guys are confused between the BRP BVS2 and the BRP modular.
The BVS2 has a face shield that goes up and the breath box falls away from your face hinged at the bottom. They have NO icing problems and come with different rubber inserts in the breather that block incoming colder air. On cold days you put in the one with no holes and it is great. on warm days you use the one with 3 holes in it and it lets you breath conditioned air . You will get a frozen snot wad on your coat locking your zipper in place on cold days but the helmets are great and do not need a heated shield. the only problem is the shield is double pane and several years the adhesive they bonded them together with was failing causing fogging.
The modular has the fighter style breather mask that has exhale tubes running laterally to the sides of the helmet and moisture gathers in the tubes and freezes causing you to black out from lack of oxygen. and the tubes crack and the snaps that secure them fail.

I always hear the snot thing about the BVS2 or the Mods but I blow my nose in a Kleenex. Its water plain and simple water. But you can get a pile of ice on your suit thats for sure. I had a guy get upset because I squeezed out the cloth while sitting in a warmup shack. I told him if he didn't like that then he should stop breathing as he was doing the same thing to the air with his breath. If the shack had been colder we could see it!

Yep know a few guys with them and they are a pain in the arse. Snaps that wont snap, tubes that come out or tear, plugged tubes. The thing is its a modular which means open it and talk then close and ride. Not open and unsnap then curse take your gloves off to resnap, then curse your frozen fingers and ask your buddys to help. Might as well be a full face and just take the helmet right off. BVS opens and closes with ease, pops right off and back on with ease. I wanted nothing to do with the fighter style mask. Not winter friendly!

I'd like to hear how many riders actually have blacked out from lack of oxygen with the BRP Mod helmet! Sure you can get some ice in the tubes in the worst conditions but c'mon!
Embelishing just a teeny bit?

I wouldn't buy any helmet for $45 unless they were high quality used stuff. Good helmets aren't cheap. Gotta trust your life to it....
