Was just wondering what types of conditions everyone adjusts their RA knob to....soft for rougher trails, hard for flat-n-fast? Or vice versa? I haven't messed with mine much as it's such a comfortable sled already. Also, is the adjuster just for compression?

Ya,i have had a couple of these, its mainly for rebound, with some compression built into it at the same time as they kinda crossover. yes hard means hard suspension, soft means soft suspension. this mono can be one sweet ride when set up correctly, and your transfer rod can also play into it some, and limiter strap setting as on most skids they both can effect ride and handling togeather, you also have your preload of the coilover spring on your shock,i don't know your weight or riding style and that also plays into the set up some. Also which model do you have float vrs coilover front shocks? I am working on getting back on another apex, only this time will give the long boy a try the xtx,i have always been a shortie rider, but want to try this new and improved CK skid, once more.

IDK how the new mono is, but on my '06 Apex I turn it to 3/4 or even full hard when the trails are rough(er) & then full soft on smooth groomed trails.

It's well known that the early monos were severely under sprung, but I don't ride hard & rarely bottom out.

I pretty much leave mine where it is , yep the dang cable is broke again !!

I'm 170 without gear and pretty much ride high speed trail up in your neck of the woods mmsnowbeast....aren't you up around Patten? And mine is the standard model...no Fox Floats

Catman I was thinking just the opposite, hard for high speed handling and soft to suck up the junk

X2, but ride is good so I don't even find myself wanting to adjust.

One the newer Apex's it might not be as critical because Yamaha improved the mono-shock, but on my 'ol '06 it has to be set hard on really rough stuff otherwise it does bottom out too easy.

I generally leave it at the 1/2 way mark on the display & forget about it, unless like I said before, if the trails are mint, then I go full soft & just the opposite if they are really bombed out.

It's all personal preference for comfort...

Ok gotcha...ya I've been running it in the middle too....was just curious if it made much of a difference for different conditions. I'll have to play with it a little bit this weekend.

Yup,thats my 2nd house main street patten, next to the hanger where connector trail 112 goes right thru, appears as though we are close down here too lol,my cat has been the biggest disappointment sled in years, ready to get back on an apex again, but want to try a longer one, have had a bunch of shorties and one attack, now maybe a 144!

Ya I'm not far from Sebago Lake village in Standish, and camp is on Ambajejus Lake near Twin Pines. Love this Apex...coming off an 02 Viper 121" to the 128" w/ power steering is awesome.. perfect sled for up there.

X2 here. Hard is for the bumps. Soft is for the nice flat cushy riding. I run mine 3/4 hard. I have the big boy spring and still bottom out occasionally. I just adjusted the spring tension 4 clicks yesterday so we'll see how it performs tonight.
