I'm really sick of that pounding noise you can feel through the runningboards while going slow over a choppy section of trail. It makes a high quality and expensive sled seem cheap.
Is there any adjustment or change that will reduce or eleminate it? Do we even really know for sure what it is? Some say limiter strap & some say transfer rod. Some say it's the nature of the beast which isn't a good answer as far as I'm concerned.
The limiter strap and preload are in the factory position, the transfer rod is one mark to the "more transfer" side.
I rode 120 miles on April 14th, mostly boondocking through DEEP snow in Northern Maine and it was awsome until I heard and felt that clunking again while we ran through a choppy connector trail going slow. It ruined an otherwise great ride.
HELP!

The more transfer, the stroke is bigger on the transfer rod, the more you will hear it.I don't hear the clunk that much on my sled because my transfer rod is set-up more for ski pressure ( less transfer rod stroke ).And yes,it's the nature of the beast.

Take the transfer rod out and see if it goes away.

I found the pounding varies alot with suspension setup. this is not to bad.
I set the 40 to 45 mm on the spring with the ice and snow still in the tunnel or else set at approx. 35 to 38 mm, to soft seems to pound the worst. Also pulled the limiter strap up one hole. Transfer also affects it, I have played with it, but now I went with one mark more than standard.

It's the front limiter straps making that sound.

Yah i'm pretty sure it's just the front limiter strap, becasue my Ski-doo made the exact same noise and it didn't have a transfer rod, but i could be wrong.
It's not the limiter straps,lol
All monoshocks do this it's the transfer rod.

So, I guess taking out the transfer rod and trying it would answer the question definitively

its the transfer rod, take it apart go to hardware store and get
rubber o-rings to replace the plastic ones on the rod, easy fix
no more clunk.

Sheik,
Is it an o-ring(material round) or rubber washer(material flat). Good summer project!
Thanks

I agree it is definately the transfer rod and you can even do it by hand when you have the mono shock on the bench as soon as I knew what it was it seemed to bother me alot less Yamadoo
