Has any one used a mega float air shock in there attacks with mono set up please let me no if or works good or not looking for upgrade thanks

Have not used one in my Attak but have driven a SE with the Mega Float. Great ride when you set it for regular trail riding. Very smooth in the stutters.
The bad thing is that when set up for a smooth ride in the stutters it does not handle the larger bumps and bottoms out. Worse than the stock spring in the Attak.
Set the air pressure for the bigger bumps and you get a rougher ride on the stutters.
So it would depend on where and how you drive if it is the right shock combo for you.

I have an 06 apex, not an attack,
But what steiner said above is exactly the experience i had with the mega float

Well feeling is rebuilding and the coast but heard they work great in the trail and studer bumps and I have set on my front of the sled

I thought about getting the Fox Float under , but if I blow it out,I have nothing to hold me up..no spring .. So I went with a set up Hygear Ohilins . I'm one of the few that do jump an Apex time to time !

Well, 4 out of 5 non OCD members say hygear..lol...and logically, that dual spring or variable rate spring makes sense....the mono doesn't need anymore straight rate compromise shocks..it need progression to overcome some of the natural falling rate geometry...so at least a second spring can change the game of sorts...my old ski doo progressive rates never bottomed...ever...but things broke, sleds bounced... and they never rode as well as as monoshocker....

Don't do it...
I've tried it on my 121 gt and my buddy on his attak gt, took them both off, you will never get a consistent ride out of the mega float, with air temp changes and trail conditions changes makes for a horrible ride unless you want to play around before everyride, it's not worth it...

Not the best analogy, but a set of helper springs on a truck can do wonders for bottoming out, but when inactive, still allow for a decent ride. Added Hellwigs to a soft 1/2 ton...great results. Same principle applys...engaging a stiffer spring far into the travel will slow it down for sure. And it's there all the time, and the soft spring initially allows for a nice ride.

I know the air shock was used to save a few lbs but if it had a spring with it would probably be a decent setup. The new single shot sounds like it's not working all that well for the same reason, it needs a spring. That's the first thing I'd be looking for, a new shock with a spring and throw the air shock in the garbage. The trails we ride on have way too many variations thru out the day for it to work.

Well said sgauthier...
I know people with the new suspension with air shock and it's very disappointing...
And yes they need to throw the air shock in the garbage, me and my bud dropped 800 each on the mega, worse investment we have ever made in our life's...
Had a guy here in Ontario revalve my ohlins and wow what a difference, stutters bumps are gone at any speed...
I cant understand why Yamaha still uses that friggin shock.....

I heard / read that Hygear can make the Megafloat work much better.

My sled had the hygear set up on a megafloat.
It was a big improvment but still had issues.
Just cant get it set up right for all conditions. Either too soft or too firm.
5psi makes a big difference with this shock.
I think if you could add a resivior like hygear did on the front floats it could solve the issue. Problem is there is just no room for it and the design of the shock makes it impossible to add to.
I got tired of screwing with it and went back to the kyb with hygear dual spring.
Its better in all conditions and way way less screwing around with it. Just set it and forget it..

Plus, i had my schrader fill valve rip off the megafloat once on me.
50 miles of riding on the tunnel protectors to get home. Not a good experience at all.

We offer progressive rate big boy springs as another alternative. It's a single spring and direct swap out with the stock spring. We offer them for kyb shock and the ohlins.
