Does anyone know if Yamaha is going to offer a heavy duty version of the spring for the Monoshock Rear Suspension on the '05 shorty?

I weigh in around 275 - 290 with gear on which is more than likely on the upper end of what the stock spring can handle. Also, I do occasionally have my 90 pound son with me and he will be riding on the Seat Jack. I'm pretty sure that 365 - 380 pounds of riders is more than that spring can deal with.

Yamaha has not released the parts list for the '05's yet, so I can't tell. Another possible option would be the Cat flip up leaf springs that they put on their 2-up sleds. Those are the slickest suspension item I have seen.

If anyone knows the deal on the spring though, I'd like to hear it. Part numbers would be even BETTER!!

Thanks.

I weigh in at 300 plus seatJack for little lady. I'm wondering the same thing. Cats overload springs work great , maybe one could adapt them.

I messed around with mine this weekend, and I weigh 240. I adjusted through the whole range, and never touched the spring tension. This suspension is kick A$$!!! I t moves through the whole movement easily. I had my wife jump on it also, and set a little softer on the dial, it works well. She weighs 120. Remember that this is for the shock rebound and not spring rate, so you will have to find your setting. I found that if your sled drops 4 inches when you sit on it, that will be your best setting for spring pressure. Then you can adjust shock rebound from there.

Anybody pull out the new suspension yet to see how hard it is to go in and out? Any tricks?
Doug

Yamaha will be offering higher rate springs for the Mono skid, they will be available soon enough, no part numbers yet.
The Mono skid is easy to remove. When installing the skid, remove one of the bolts from the control rod, put the suspension bolts in. Then you can push down slightly on the back end to put the control rod bolt back in.
