MORE DARTING

Try and tighten up your limiter strap by one hole. It made a huge difference on both Apex GT and my Attak.

I would think that tightening up on the limiter strap would put more pressure on the skis and result in even more darting. I've always felt the the less ski pressure the less darting.

My X2's are sweet to with about 1/4" of toe in no tracking or darting and easy to steer

I don't understand this. Typically toe-in results in darting, toe-out is generally the known method. Even Yammi calls for toe-out in the manual.

My Apex darted pretty darn bad, especially in loose snow and worse when riding behind a Doo. I went to Bergstrom 6" carbides, with ski saver strip between ski bottoms and the carbides, gives a deeper bight, and the shim kit to hold the ski tips up slightly and ride more on the center of the host bar, rather than ahead of center. This totally solved my darting and reduced pushing in hard corners. I have SLP-SLT skis on my Poo, which darted also, put a shim kit on these, no more dart. I do like the greater flexibility of the SLT's as they soak up stutter bumps better than a more solid ski like the stock Yammi.

im running one 6 inch stud boy deuce bar on the right ski and a 6 inch single on the left ski no darting before i ran just 6 inch single and darted like crazy

I found zero darting on my Attak with:

Slydog Powderhound skis
8" Bergstrom triple points
Unshimmed
Bergstrom Ski Savers
1/16" toe in
Very light (soft) front spring preload
Transfer set approx 2/3 to max
Limiter strap sucked up one hole from stock

I tried no other combinations, and I'm sure others will work as well. But without a doubt, this combo does work for me.

I have the pilots and like them a lot ,but they do seem to dart at lower speeds ,once you pick up the speed the darting is not noticeable,so if you ride at slower speeds and don't like darting in my experience these probably aren't the skis for you,I would also like to mention that they do seem to wear fast athe front of the outside runner, but nine are the 06 version and the trails around my home have been terrible this year(low snow with alot of rocks)

Ooops trenchdigger, instead of hitting quote button I hit edit and nuked your post. My bad! :o| Sorry. but here is an answer

and is this normal wear for 2400 miles?never seen this much wear in other sleds I have owned with more miles, or maybe I just never noticed!

Oh yeah, in the 2400 to 4000 mile range you will need to replace some of them. They are cheap, just plastic bushings.

Bruce at Pioneer has some higher quality ones for some of the positions

thanks tork,as for the post no problem ,but would like to caution people that are having darting problems to check there ski spindles on account my er had substatial wear on the left side spindle and may be contributing to there darting problem.

Are you talking about the A Arm bushings?? Or do you mean the spindles themselves?

I am close to buying an 07 Attak. I do rough trail and semi-deep powder so my dealer is recommending removing the stock Attak skis and replacing them with the skis from the Apex 162" mtn sled.

What do you guys think about that? Will that ski be an improvement for the darting problem on the stock ski?

He says using the Yami stock Apex mtn ski keeps the warranty intact.

Slydog's on my attak with 8" bergstrom's and ski savers, limiter sucked up one hole from stock and doesn't dart at all. Turns great.

the spindle itelf has a lot of movement in and out,the a arms seem a little loose but not bad, think I will leave it for this year because season is almost over and do all the bushings over the summer.

I have around 900 miles on my 07 GT and the right side A Arm bushings and both the spindles themselves are sloppy. So I called my dealer and he shipped me all new A arm bushings for both sides and said if i need anything he would send it right out seeing he is an hour away. Has anybody else seen this?
Thanks Jeff
