went riding today and noticed the exhaust was a little loose. when i got home i took the seat off figuring the mounts were just a little loose but it ended up being the header. before the flex pipe theres clamps, they were loose. theres spacers between the clamps that keep it from being overtightned or something i guess. so to get it tight enough i had to grind those spacers down a little bit. but on the up side, all my heat shields look good.

There is a ticking sound coming from my header, what do you guys think? Doughnuts done or exhaust leaking/cracked?

Its a possablity is you head valves. You might have to cheak the valve clearince. How many miles are there?

whats the point in the spacers?? is too tight not good?

Without the spacers you cant tighten the bolt without distorting clamp.

oooo yea makes sence thanks

I think its going to be a yearly thing or maybe more for some to have to go through exhaust and fix or replace the donuts, cracked pieces and shields.Every year I dug in I always find something broke on exhaust. Also is a nice place for the mice and just junk like leaves and grass to collect and catch on fire.

That getting close to inspection on the TM I think. Im my car if you hear a ticking, even thought it modded with headder, intakes ,ext. I will ussaly take it to the valve clearance, it can also be messing up your timing. I think on the gennsie engines you can se the clearance with out removing the head, dont know. Other then that I cant think of anythink. If it a consitant and make sound evey x times a second. Sound like muffled or bare ball baring hitting each other, I would cheak the valves. I dont know what type of valve spings or return system it has, so that about as far as I can go right now on tearms of when it should be done. One type I know requiers some cheaking while in break in.
