i wanna buy a few spare relays or fuses to put in the bag for emergencies. I have apn 09 xtx. What is the most common one to go that will have me stranded on the trail? And where do you recommend i buy them from? Thanks

You should have some spare fuses in your fuse box. From what I've heard a relay is more than likely the one that will give you grief while on the trail. Buy some of the new updated (red solid state) relays for spares or replace them and hold on to your old ones. Oh yes, your stealer should have them or be able to order you them.

The most common fuse to go is what ever fuse you have your heated shield hooked up to if you have one. You should only have a fuse go if you have a short. It is fairly easy to short out the heated shield wire on the frame.

I keep a spare relay with me and assortment of fuses(mostly 20 and 30 amp) and a spare main fuse. Fuel pump relay is the most common one that people replace. Like mentioned new updated relays are available for the fuel pump load controll and fan relays.

Check your wiring harness in behind the primary clutch and behind the steering gate/rad mount. Some earlier sleds had problems with a nub on the aluminium casting. I had problems with the harness rubbing on the steering gate where the rad mounts. A few others that I've mentioned it to have found spots where it's been rubbing through there as well..

I was able to convince dealer there was an issue, they replaced it under warranty...I'd check ebay first, then dealer....I buy a lot of my stuff from cyclepartsnation, but it's a local pick up for me (no S&H)....I think it ran under $30....

And my guess at $30 was way off....should find it for less than $10 to include shipping....
