Motor down, need opinions/advice.

Its a front mount, Stewart Warner gauge, it read 7 and 10 lbs when I first installed it so I'm assuming the gauge was close because thats what they come preset at. Reading boost from the intercooler. Had a shaved chisel track on it and got alot of snow the night before so she was spinning alot, I wouldn't say that the motor was loading very hard.

Turbomania, yeah that was us in front of the Best Western, sled was running great besides the lack of traction on the far end of the track. Had a good 30-40 miles on it already that day and when the racing started decided to try high boost, about 4 runs later she was done.

Where the 4 runs back to back? Or did the sled sit after each run?

Thank you Skydog

Made one run, then the sled sat for 5-10 minutes, then made 3 back to back runs, third run was the killer apparently.

I'm gonna try to snap a pic of the plugs so you guys can see em. Other than the one plug that looks lean they look fine IMO but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

The motor was heat soaked and you were already on the edge as far as jetting then the heat soaking caused it to detonate. I've seen the same scenerio before.

That is what i feel too!! And the 3 back to back runs did it!

Good luck buddy!! What kind of boost are you going to go with on the next set up?

Thank you Skydog

I was the guy that pulled up beside you by shore, the red T660 with the A/F gauge. Did you get a chance to talk to my buddy with the 03 Silver RX-1 w/ Bender stage 2 ??? He was staying at the Best Western.
He said something about giving you a spark plug to check spark. I was busy trying to dial in my Supertip weights. I had the clutching all screwed up Saturday.
The guy's with the Skidoo trailer on the ice got a little loud later on.
They were running there mouths about 4 Stroke lawnmower stuff.
The Silver Bullet smacked all of them down. He was in the same boat as you, shaved track w/chisels and 10" of snow.

I was on the silver 03 that ran a couple of times in front of the hotel.Did you get a radar reading.I think we ran a couple of times against each other. The 1 time I was on radar it showed 103 mph.Not bad for the lack of traction and a stock track with trail studs.

Man i missed it, I didn't realize there was another Silver turbo there.
Best we could do was 110 MPH. Tough conditions for speed runs, there was alot of heavy snow on the lake.

Not sure about the spark plug thing, must have been someone else, but did run a silver RX-1 turbo a couple of times right before she blew. I busted butt the day before shaving down a track, and sticking 240 chisels in it only to get 10" of snow the night before. Would have been alot faster with the trail track that day. The motor went down about 10 minutes before the plowed strip was ready to go. :o|

Probably the same, lol, I'll just jet up a little more and be sure to get some better gas. The problem with all this power is it makes you greedy for more.

We were trying to find race gas too but everybody close had switched over to kerosene, "It'll be fine on premium", "Just don't hold it long"

Yeah right, that's kinda tough on such a huge lake :ORC

We'll see how much this whole deal is gonna cost, maybe do 3 gaskets this time...

I've got three good used low miles pistons if you're interested. Since you gotta tear it down anyway you should go with the low comp piston and be safer next time, Ken.

Man you are so right, sure dont want to back mine down at all!
