I made a small bracket that mounts to the back of the speedo bracket to mount a water temperature gauge.
I cut a 3" piece of 1.5" x 1.5" angle aluminum and mounted that to the back of the speedo bracket with 2 bolts. I had to cut out the center to clear the rubber grommet for the speedo. I then painted it black and mounted the gauge pod to the top of the angle iron.

I made it large enough to mount another gauge if needed.

Looks good. Hopefully it's not so heavy to make the stock pod bounce up and down too much.

I was worried about that but the gauge and bracket are pretty light. If it does bounce too much I will weld up a support to the speedo bracket.

Cool idea, and good job on the fab work. My opinion is that the stock pod already sits up pretty high. what about a roll over? would hate to see it ripped off the sled after all the effort.

With the stock medium windshield I'm not worried about a rollover. But I want to change to a lower windshield and then I need to think of a way of protecting the gauge. If it becomes a problem I will mount it on inside of the riser.

Here are a couple of pictures in the light and with the lights off (in the garage).

There is another wire to use to dim the display if needed but I think it will be ok. I may put a switch on the dimmer wire to manually dim it.

I may have to get the speedo backlight changed to blue to match!

As an FYI the temp was 47 C when the RPMs dropped to 1700.

Well that looks quite nice...but vulnerable. If it were me.... that would last probly one ride... untill I dump it..... then would need to be moved (if theres anything left).
Ive destroyed 2 speedos so far lol and as of this year (and most of last year) will be ridin blind. My harness unfortunatly was ruined last time.
Your setup is kick #*$&@!!! Just food for thought will be gone in one rollover...protect it somehow.

I may fab a "roll-over" bar that mounts to the windshield brackets to give the speedo and gauge some protection. Should be easy enough to figure out.

There is just no good space to mount the gauge anywhere else.

Looks pretty good with the lights on. These sleds don't roll over do they???
