While i don,t know the exact dry weight of the MP i would saw its very close to the warrior(630lbs dry).Had the chance to ride a MP back in 2010 from a yamaha dealer(ride include groom trail,un-groomed trail, off trail hard base).MP rode way better through the moguls behind the dealer(i has shocked over the improvement over my warrior).Power was silky smooth, good all around (just didn,t have the insane turbine power of the warrior)Steering was good.Ultra comfortable seating position(lots of room for two people).High quality machine.Don,t know about deep snow but if its better than the warrior(excellent deep-snow machine for its weight)then you can,t go wrong.Fuel economy should be better than the warrior.

Yamaha doesn't list the weight on their sites - I wonder why? Don't be fooled by the name "V Lite", they ain't light but are fairly nimble for a big machine but difficult to sidehill I find. If you want it for off trail you might as well go with the MP because it comes with the wider skis and track. The VL stock skis are useless for off trail. I find mine really good in the snow and fun to drive now with the 8" Slydogs and 1.5" lug track. And tunnel icing is a problem in colder areas but it can be fixed. I found it took some getting used to the driving and handling style but learned to like it.

Have a look at this thread. It explains all the differences between the two (except the weight):

I did find a link to the 2012 specs and it gives a dry weight of 593 lbs for the VL
http://www.snowmobile.com/specs/yamaha/ ... /lite.html

But they don't have the weight of the 2013 MP. I think it might be a bit heavier because of the wider track but that's about it. Looking over the specs between the VL and MP, I noticed that the rear suspension travel has changed between the two. The VL has 11.5" travel while the MP has 12.3".

Between the two, you get way more sled for just an extra $100 with the MP. It's no boondocker but will handle deep snow well.

I'm not sure about the travel but the MP always had better shocks on the skis and skid. BTW, if someone is riding solo, just removing the rear seat should shed a few lbs 15 to 20 maybe?

I have a 07 Venture Lite and the spec sheet at the time listed it at 601 lbs dry (no gas or oil). Add approx. 60lbs for gas and oil, and say another 50 lbs for ice in the tunnel and this sled tops out at over 700 lbs on the trail. (That's without carrying any gear on the rack.)
I would imagine the multi purpose with the wider track would add another 10 lbs or so.

Make no wonder I carry a ratchet type winch and 100 feet of heavy rope with me for off trail.

Nothing lite about these sleds!

My 2008 Swedish manual has the following weights specified for mass in running order for Swedish/Finish specification:

Multi Purpose: 305.0 kg (672 lb)
Lite: 304.0 kg (670 lb)

Ok, except that in 2008, the MP didn't come with the passenger seat, unless the European version did come with the seat, then I would believe 2lbs for that one inch of track. And at those weights, I would imagine that is "wet" weight, which I would guess is "running order".

The european version had the passenger seat from the introduction 2007. Yes that is with oil, water and a full tank of gas.

Interesting! Now the North American versions have the seat. Strange how Yamaha operates sometimes. 2013 is the first year the MP is being offered in the US and Canada has had it since the beginning (minus the passenger seat 2007 to 2009).
