Wondering how difficult it is to install the MPI supercharger? Read alot of the threads listed, but have a couple of questions. I installed the filter kit on my RX-1, but this seems like it might be considerably more difficult.
I ride mostly on trails/lakes in Northern Wisconsin/UP, is this the kit for me?
I want this to be a pump gas setup. Who in the midwest sells & possibly installs the superchargers?

How do these sleds run compared to Cat/Doo 1000's?

Thanks in advance

We sell and install superchargers. The install, if you are mechanically able, isn't that bad at all. It just takes some time. A 24-24 pulley setup on 91 octane fuel will give you the desired boost level for trail riding. Let me know if you have any questions.

Allen, Any idea who sell MPI SC in Canada?

MPI has setup a new distributor for Canada. and for the life of me right now I can't remember the name of them! I just had to format the old PC here so I lost my contacts. If you give em a call they will tell you the phone numbers etc... I think he is in BC.

Like Allen said the install is very easy if you have a few basic tools you can do the install in a few hours. The one thing that took the most time was notching the delta frame lip. I didn't have the air compressor hooked up yet so I couldn't use a die grinder. Make sure you have one on hand to make the install a snap. Nothing wild required a decent torque wrench is about all that the super casual mechanic wouldn't have. The 24:24 pulleys are what I run here put 3000 miles on last season without a hitch. The main thing to do also I think is the rear heat exchanger is important to keep the engine temps down. Don't blow the intercooler with the stock airbox lid trying to hide what you have. Either run the IC wide open or use a porus foam or one of the ram air kits out there now like lakeracr sells. You need to keep that intake charge cold to stop the chance of detonation.

Yummy, not sure who the Canadian distributor would be. I ship to Canada quite frequently and have shipped one supercharger to the Winnipeg area last winter. You could try contacing Tom @ Hartman Inc as I know he ships to Canada quite often as well.

Additional items I would suggest for trail riding:
-Rear heat exchanger
-Water temp gauge
-24:24 pulleys
-Louvered bottom plate to let the air out of the engine compartment
-Clutching obviously

I'd probably jump on a knock sensor too if you get way out there some places up north don't have super. I had to take her easy coming home a couple times from up near cochrne (sp?) because I couldn't get anything but 87. Just a thought.

Allen, please tell us more about this louvered bottom plate! Is it the plate that you remove to change the oil? Probably not a good idea on a N/A sled, as it would be pulling the air right past the airbox inlet?

Jamie, and Allen..I got my Knocksensor. I ordered the 'Knocksense' kit. Should do fine for my application along with my wideband!! I'll report on it once it snows!!
