Mpi quick spool wastegate upgrade

Has anyone on here with an original mph stage 1 turbo upgraded to their new quick spool wastegate? I know there is a certain cut off date where they included the new wastegate on all the stage 1 and 2 kits, my kit unfortunately was before the cut off date. Is there easily noticeable performance gains? Worth the $160? I didn't notice any real turbo lag on mine, only complaint I had was if I did a wot launch it would have a bad 1 second bobble where it was overloading it with fuel, I'm gonna be eliminating that problem this year with swapping out the outdated gems controller idea and going with a full power commander setup, just curious if the wastegate is a good upgrade or not worth it.
 
Yes & Yes. 1st of all the original stage 1 waste gate had limits. Mine was only capable of 7#'s of boost max. 2nd there is a noticeable difference between the 2. The ramp up in boost is much faster. even though you felt no lag you still were not building full boost at the snap of the throttle. This still is not instant on but it is much faster. I give it the kudos for my 252 hp viper walking away on the line from the 300+ hp D&D xf's that I have raced.

As you mentioned it will not remove that burp at launch but will get the motor using the fuel faster so less impact. I am also going to the power commander V PTI with ignition on the 14 and moving the 2 gems and stage I mpi to the 15
 
Mine is pretty well maxed out a 7 pounds too, adjusted all the way and on really cold days it'll flash 8 pounds once or twice on a ride, so it's making 7+ pounds. With the ignition module and the engine setup on mine now and using modified injectors I want to be around 10 pounds so that wastegate is holding the sled back in more ways than 1.
 
I have.... and you both are correct. If you want more boost then 7lbs you will have to update

Yes and the jump from 7 to 10#'s is incredible. It may only be 30 hp but the sled comes into its own at that point. The hp to weight balances out and trail riding is like a dance, power on nose up, drop throttle out into a turn to get bite then back on it and steer out with body English. It is intoxicating at least. years ago I had an RX mountain with 300 hp Bender rear mount but the thing just never ran right and the wait for the boost was nerve racking. it would hit you like a hammer just before the turn and then off throttle. This setup is so smooth you really don't notice the extra hp after launch. It just feels so natural till you get to the end of a trail and then sit and wait on the rest of your group to show up.
 
Guess I'll just bite the bullet and get one ordered, lots of tuning to come with the new pc5 setup so mights well have it all set to go for when that time comes.
