Hello all! I had some questions about converting a phazer mtn lite to a trail beast. My sister bought the sled from a good friend who didn't have time to ride it anymore. First thing I did was swapped skis to what I had laying around which was a set of slydog powderhounds.....probably not the best choice but thats what I had laying around from my nytro. Is there a difference in ski stance between the mtn lite and a gt? Different control arms etc?? What suggestions to get this thing handling better? And my sister is a heavier gal so the rear suspension seems to bottom out easily and suggestions to stiffen that up? Thanks for your help!

We love yamaha's in my family!!

All the other Phazers are wider than the MTX.

The MTX also has the lightest springs of all the Phazers.

Most of the parts are interchangeable.

You may want to look at the XTX to see what spring rates it used as it's a 144 but has the wider front end.

What are you doing with the MTX skis? I have a mountain ride coming up and may want to buy them.

PM me pictures and price please. I also have some almost new Yamaha trail skis with yellow hoops if your interested in a trade. Shipping would be cheap, north of you with shipping to Ifalls 56649.

RUN the MTX ski, great trail ski IMO. It has a deep keel like most aftermarket skis have, the short track ski is the one people complain about which don't have much keel. As for the front you would need the upper and lower A-arms and steering rods from a Base or RTX Phazer to widen the front. GT front requires the GT sway bare setup also if you find the parts. I picked up an entire GT front end when I did my swap.

Here are the skis you wanted. For some reason I can't upload pics to private messages

He didn't want to trade but you can buy them if you like. I passed on it because we have no snow and I wasn't planning to bring the sled out west to the mountains.

As it turns out I brought the sled out to the mountains so I might have ended up needing the skis. I'll see how the Tuner skis do. Riding Pamarama Basin on Saturday.
