Mtn Vector VS Mtn RX1 vs Apex wt

Yamaha says the Vector motor weighs 22lbs less than the RX motor,yet it is only 9lbs lighter once in the sled[total sled weight] The Apex motor is less than the RX,but the Vector Mtn SE is still only 9 lbs lighter,how can this be?? Should not a 05 Vector Mtn weigh 22 lbs less than a 05 RX1 Mtn ,both with 151 tracks,cant see how the Vector is only 9lbs diff,what ads the 13lbs? Or is the 3banger really only 9lbs liter than the 4cyl?? Confused!!

it all to do with parts like a arms rear suspetion parts & a few other things i found on the vector were steel vs the rx or apex having aluminum parts.the vector motor weights 100lbs vs the rx apex motor that comes in at 122-125lbs have weight both.

So if a full mod RX1 weighed say 530 dry just for a number would the vector with all the same mods be 505?

yes thats what i figure mine will come in at when iam done next year iam 538 right now with turbo front mount no exaust & have about 25- 35 pounds left to take off if you wanted to throw a few ti parts at it you could get it under 500lbs cr new apex came in at 521lbs with some ti parts & a 28 rs turbo + nitrous.the vector is the cheaper model so they dont use all the trick parts on it.the vector will make just about as much hp as the rx i beat alot of turbo apex & rx1 at bis & my clutching was way off wasnt realy there to race just jump in a few for fun.have had a few people jump on it & are very shocked at how fast it is.did you weigh your motor m5 i have seen a few weighed & they seem to come in at around 125-130 without carbs.

I never actually took the motor out of the bulkhead for some reason so I never got the chance to weigh it. I figure I could get 10 lbs more out of my sled and maybe as much as 20 if I threw a bunch of coin at it but to be as much as 50 lbs lighter than where I am now by going to a Vector would be really sweet.

iam very suprised at how few peaple have tryed modding the vector guess they just havnt seen any done mine is one of the few i know about looking at doin a few more mods to the motor this year will be at 325 hp when done without nitrous should scare the crap out of most any rx or apex.right now at 16 pounds boost its 275hp for some reason i keep wanting more guess iam addicted to boost.

At this point it would probably be easier for me to buy a Vector and swap the motors than to build a new chassis. I pretty well have all the parts for the Rx1 turbo now just missing a few small things. Oh well just an idea but it would sure be nice to drop that last 25 lbs.
