2 years ago my cousins 4 tek got hot due to a faulty water pump impeller i guess their known for, it melted the plastic oil tank on the back of the engine and he was done, this year same gye on his sea doo with the allmighty 4 tec , blew a head gasket and dropped a vale something else i guess they were known for( hollow valve stems or sumthin) anyways he fixed the sled and the seadoo motor is pulled and getting repaired over this winter, some gyes never learn! ill try to post the video of the doo squirtin coolent out the plug holes like a champI have 0 worries about the motor. BRP has never produced a bad 4 stroke motor. The 900R is almost identical to the X3 turbo RR motor. The fuel system is more than capable for the power. Guys are running 300hp on stock internals in the X3. It still has 90% the cc as the 998t. They wouldn't release the motor if it wasn't more than capable at factory power. It will gain about 30hp from factory before it hits it's next limitation, which will probably be the turbo and the motors inability to breathe.

Because I'm the one that made a Mach Z thread right? Had 10 pages of guys talking on the Mach z thread before me.I think you're on the wrong site...this is a Yamaha site. Doo Talk is the Ski Doo site...
It's not a crime to like all snowmobiles even if some of you can't handle that. I don't think I've ever bashed the yamicat. But I have defended it. They all have pros and cons. It gets oddly defensive here if you say a certain brand does good work.

I know nothing about personal water craft. It isn't an interest of mine so maybe. There might have been some years there. I do know sea Doo dominates the watercraft world so a lot of people must like them.

So.....I am wondering why Hurricane performance is building a kit to include, crank, Pistons, rods, etc, etc with a target HP of 270?!?!
Maybe I misread it.....I've been know to share some horribly bad information. Especially when it comes to downgrading the opposition. Lol....

just saying this is a Yamaha site...you have the right to comment any way you like...I'm familiar with Ski doo and if I want more experience on them then I will borrow my friends multitude of different models. Again, just saying this is a Yamaha site like the site says...TOTALLY YAMAHA..thank god it's a free country and almost free site...lolBecause I'm the one that made a Mach Z thread right? Had 10 pages of guys talking on the Mach z thread before me.

You ever watch SxS Blog on You Tube and see what happens to those X3’s when turned up? There is definitely some weak points of that motor.I have 0 worries about the motor. THIS post is about the Mach against the Sidewinder.
So the Mach would HAVE to be talked about to make this a conversation or the headline would read "Sidewinder Race"
That said, i believe SkiDoo put soooo much effort into blocking the ECU cuz this motor doesn't have a lot extra.
Yamaha on the other hand, in my opinion, WANTED this motor to get heavily tuned.
That way there are 250-300hp dependable motors with their name on it making them look GOOD
WIN WIN for the big Y.
EVERYBODY fears the Winder cuz they may be running 300 hp even in trail form. So they never know what they're up against.
The Mach, as of now, is 200ish HP. That's it!
It has a CHANCE against a STOCK Winder.
So You're Tellin' Me There's a Chance! (movie quote)
P.S: Name the movie
P.S2: Does her response reflect on this race?

It's not easy building the fastest production sled on snow, and then maintaining that status year after year.
Poor Doo must have lost a little bit of market share over the last 5yrs. Definitely missed with the 900t (great sled) and now this (last chance) effort. And for giggles added the Mach Z nameplate, out of desperation.
Personally, I would have waited until the 220hp version came to light B4 I dumped my load & used that final card.

According to dynotech's Dyno numbers on the mach z, it may just be that. It's not easy building the fastest production sled on snow, and then maintaining that status year after year.

It ran 193 HP at 14 psi.
Doo uses a break in period where it detunes the machine. It will run 17.5 psi when the ECU releases it. A naturally aspirated 900 ace is 95 hp. At 193 hp it is averaging 7hp per psi. I will let you do the math on where it will ballpark at 17.5 psi.
Pretty darn close to what I estimated a few months ago on the forum. So we do have a race with stock machines. But the guys that care about racing are always tuned so it doesn't matter anyway. The 900 can't breathe well enough to make that kind of power.
I doubt the sled they run at the shootout in 10 days will be out of break in so we might not even get our answer there.
Ski Doo also reported it's largest market share yet in March. 51% of all sleds sold belong to BRP. Polaris went up as well.

I appreciate that shoot out. Means a lot. It's too bad Yamaha motor doesn't care about it.
They set out to build a dominant engine package, that seems to dominate.
And yes, the market share comment was ingest.
Last note: when I see GPS readings from the Mach Z in the 118mph + range (in stock form) I'll give it the prop it deserves.
My hopes are Skidoo doesn't try the old "speedo off by 10%" routine. I bet you didn't see that coming from skidoo...oops?!?!

I would be surprised if the mach mph's well. Their predecessor was terrible for top speed. The 998t is king there for the foreseeable future. And the mach would have a hard time matching the pro cross chassis in the woods
